Okay going to Hong Kong from Manila may be cheap but booking at a nice hotel could be a nightmare. With hotels charging between HKD 4000-5000 a night, no wonder this is one of the most expensive Asian city.
We got two rooms
Date of Stay: January 26-28,2007
Room Type: Superior Twin Room
Upgrade: Added an additional HKD200 for a Deluxe room, and added HKD800 for an executive suite for mum and dad
Amount Paid Per Night: US$168.00 (really cheap)
Reservation Method: Travel Agency
Loyalty Card: none
Airport/Hotel Transfer: Too expensive to get one, so I took the airport express to the Hong Kong Terminal, then took a cab to the hotel. If you still want to keep you costs down, switch to the MTR and take the MTR to Causeway Bay and walk to the hotel.
Location: Causeway Bay, I've been staying at the Park Lane since i was 6 (which was my first time to HK)
Check-in: We were on the first flight leaving Manila, so we arrived Hong Kong around 8:30am eventually got to the hotel around 10am, We were able to check in without ant glitch.
Room: Deluxe Room was quite adequate. 32inch LCD TV was great, it had everything a standard hotel room requires. The bathroom has glass walls so you have to draw the curtain if you want privacy. The shower and bath tub are one, which is okay but I have always preferred it if it was apart.
The Executive Suite was quite small, the sitting area is quite cramped because of the work desk and had glass pillars surrounding the bed. The TVs in the room are quite small perhaps around 26 inches, they also placed a small vanity table on the side of the bed which seems to be out of place.
Bed: The bed is okay, didn't spend a lot of time at the room or on the bed to make it really matter. After a long day of shopping and walking, any bed would do.
Breakfast: Didn't have breakfast at the hotel because it wasn't part of the package.
Check-out: Check out was fast, we had to check out by 9am so we can still have time to go around with the family before taking the flight back home.
Overall Evaluation: A good hotel to stay in Hong Kong, it might be far from Louis Vuitton or D&G or Prada but there are alot of places to shop within walking distance and if ever you want to go to central its just 3 stops away.
