“A Splurge that was well worth it”

We stayed in a fantasia room at the Hong Kong Disneyland for three nights. We would agree with all of the positive statements made by other reviewers. Spacious, deluxe room with all of the "Disney touches" (Sleepy "do not disturb" sign for door, Snow White and 7 dwarfs in bathroom mirror frame, etc). Luxorious bathroom with great dual shower spiquets and jaccuzi tub. Comfortable king-sized bed. Room immaculately clean. Great view of harbor and garden maze. Staff very courteous. Common rooms and rest of buildings - super design and furnishings. Great atmosphere for families and children, (even though there were just the two of us, we enjoyed these aspects too). Besides Disneyland itself, easy transfer by the special Disnelyand line to the main train line and from there only one stop to the cable car to see the "Big Buddha" . Spent another day in Hong Kong/Kowloon. Only took about 25 minutes on the metro system to get to downtown Hong Kong and Victoria peak station. (Go spend some time in the Hong Kong Historical Museum!) Easy taxi drive to and from airport. Cannot say anything negative about our stay here - except that we would have loved to have just stayed a few more days just to enjoy the hotel itself.

Our main aim was to go to Disneyland so it was either this hotel or the other pricier hotel. Hollywood did not disappoint. Check-in was at 2pm and my first impression was the friendly and courteous bellhops. The lobby was very posh and clean. The receptionists spoke excellent English. The room was very clean and my kids were thrilled by the Mickey Mouse logos around the room.

It was so easy getting to Disneyland, there is a big shuttle bus that leaves every 10 minutes from the hotel to Disneyland.

Disneyland was amazing, for us adults and for our kids. It was very clean (never saw any China tourists spitting) and you see cleaners everywhere swooping down to sweep and remove rubbish from the streets. I was very impressed by the cleanliness and I thought it was far better than Gold Coast's Movieworld.

I was told the best time to visit Disneyland was during weekdays, where you don't get much of a crowd, it was true. We never queued more than 5 minutes for any of the rides and the weather was absolutely perfect, nice and warm in the afternoons but once 5pm hits, the temperature takes a dive and it's cool till morning.

We absolutely loved the fireworks at 8pm nightly, we were there for the 2nd night in a row and it was still enchanting to see the fireworks display.

What slightly disappointed me about the hotel was that no complimentary mineral water was given and we either had to drink from the tap or buy the mineral water from the hotel's coffee-shop. We only had 2 meals at the hotel, lunch on the 1st day and bk'fast on the 2nd day. The portions were absolutely huge, so I suggest you share the meal rather than go to waste. I thought prices were reasonable, not too expensive. For 2 adults and 2 children, we spent about HKG200 for 2 big plates of spaghetti, 1 plate of rice with pork cutlet & 2 bottles of mineral water. The next morning we had the local bk'fast of dim sum which was so filling as the portions were large.

My 2nd disappointment was with 'Breakfast with Mickey' that we had the next day. While we were checking in on the 1st day, we decided to take the bk'fast with Mickey, I thought it would be nice and that the kids would enjoy it. We got the the restaurant at 9am, it was a fancy chinese restaurant and the food was really very good, we had like 4 'courses' of bk'fast. I was told that Mickey and his friends would come out and mingle with the kids. Imaging our disappointment that only 2 characters came out for 1 minute just for photos, it was 'Mulan' whom my children were not familiar with and of course Mickey Mouse, but dressed in a Chinese outfit. They just came out for a minute, stood there while we took photos of them and the kids, then disappeared into the kitchen. Our disappointment was however appeased by the fantastic breakfast!

If you're not carrying much luggage and if you intend to go to Kowloon or Hong Kong Island from Disneyland, it's so convenient to take the MTR, which is at the doorstep of Disneyland. It's fantastic, it's so convenient and such a pleasant ride.

The hotel grounds are huge and they have a huge well manicured garden which my kids played in on our last day. My family enjoyed ourselves tremendously and we intend to holiday here again in 2 years time!

“Lovely hotel at a fantastic price”

We stayed here after four days in Kowloon and it was an oasis of peace and quiet. We had booked the cheapest garden view but found we had been upgraded to a sea view which was a nice surprise. Mind you February is very much off peak season and the hotel was very quiet. As you would expect from Disney, the room was immaculate with lovely touches such as Snow White toiletries, gowns for the whole family, free slippers etc. We had a night flight the following day and so paid extra for a late check out - so pleased we did. It meant we had another whole day in the park, could get showered up, eat and check out at 9pm for the 15 minute taxi ride to the airport. For the techies out there, there was free broadband and a huge flat screen plasma TV.

We decided to walk to the park - it took less than 10 minutes which may have been quicker than the shuttle bus but it is not signposted, so ask the bellman which way to go. It is a very pleasant walk.

If you've done Disney before you will find this the smallest park ever but what it lacks in attractions it makes up for in friendly atmosphere. The staff are wonderful (they found us most amusing for going on Space Mountain four times in a row!) and we had a lovely day - you can do the whole park in about 4 hours.

Unexpected warm weather meant we managed an hour in the outdoor pool - pleasantly landscaped with a small flume - and the changing rooms there have spectacular marble showers with free luxury toiletries ( a tip for those who don't like fixed head showers - head down to the pool areas and shower there!)

Finally, we ate at the buffets at both the Disneyland Hotel and the Hollywood Hotel (to save the big trek back into Hong Kong). The food is similar but the Disneyland hotel is a character meal, so you will be able to meet Mickey, Minnie etc. Even my 19 and 14 year olds weren't too big to have their pictures taken!

Overall, a beautiful hotel at very reasonable rates compared to USA and Paris Disney.

Stayed at Disney for 2 days at the start of our Far East holiday. Lovely experience. We had booked club rooms but were upgraded to a suite which had views of the fireworks each evening.

The room was immaculate and the spa bath much appreciated after a 12 hour flight.

Staff in the club lounge were wonderful and would address you by name and remember how you liked your coffee on some occassions getting us drinks without request. As it was the tail end of the Chinese New Year the hotel was quite busy but never felt overwhelmed. The indoor pool was small but our son really enjoyed his daily swims in it. Unfortunately it was a little chilly during our stay so we didn't try the outdoor pool.

My only negative is regarding the park and the pushing from the mainland Chinese visitors. A little unexpected and it took some getting use to. Transfers via the metro system to Hong Kong Island were swift and pleseant.

Stayed at this hotel for three night. Fantastic from one end to the other. Would love to go back here some time. We travelled with two children, one fiveyearold and one ten month old baby. Our daughter had stars in here eyes the whole weekend. The staff, the room, the food, the surroundings - everything was immaculate. The breakfast with the characters was fun but a bit stressfull- we didnt eat much! Fun food for the kids and lot of choices in beverages, fruits, cakes and hot food. The park and the maze outside the hotel is very nice. The hotel atmosphere is one of a kind. Disneymusic in the background in the elevator, in the hall, the staff with names like "Cupid", "Angel" and "Princess" and the decor of the hotel that makes you feel like a princess - or prince. Bus to the park from the front of the hotel. Not far from the airport either. Only twenty minutes.
