We have just recently returned from Egypt which can only be described as the “Holiday from Hell”.
We arrived at the Jaz Mirabel Club Hotel on the 26th May for fourteen nights (big mistake) !!
First impression of the hotel was good as the grounds were well maintained and the reception area was clean, we were shown to our room which was located next to the children’s area, although we do not have children ourselves. On an evening we were unable to sit on our balcony as children were playing at the park or we could hear music from the hotel lobby bar (mostly German) therefore the evenings consisted of sitting in our room watching tv.
That would be bad enough but the kids club started in the middle of the pool from 10am until 12pm (evening) except Thursdays.
They catered for Germans only, and there was no entertainment the whole time we were there for English apart from a few cd’s during the day which included some fabulous Christmas tunes which is exactly what you want to hear when its 40 degrees (an English tourist turned this off after the third time).
Then we “dined” at the CACTUS Restaurant this would be ideal if you liked uncooked meat, bland food , and chefs who have no hygiene standards - this is definitely the hotel for you!!! We tried to eat at the Ginger snack bar and sampled uncooked burgers which we then took back to the chef and he denied the food was raw and refused to eat it himself.
We were both poorly on this holiday with sickness and diarrhoea and when we eventually made it out of our rooms and were chatting to people around the pool we established that we were not the only ones who were suffering and everyone was experiencing exactly the same symptoms. During our stay at the Mirabel Club we were informed that there was an outbreak of over 20 cases of food poisoning in the Mirabel Beach. We contacted the rep and advised him of our concerns of the food and entertainment and we were then given the option of dining in the Park’s restaurant which had the same food as the Cactus therefore this did not resolve our problem! We were also advised it was a children’s holiday which was why the hotel had entertainment on for German kids – This is not clearly stated in the holiday brochure.
We booked a trip but we were both suffering from upset stomachs and could not attend therefore we wasted £70 which we are trying to get refunded.
At the minute we still have upset stomachs even though we arrived back from Egypt on Monday 9th June.
Myself and my partner have travelled to many destinations on holiday and both agreed that this was the worst place that we had ever visited in our lives needless to say we will NEVER be returning to Egypt or the Jaz Mirabel complex!!
