“Lovely hotel”

Iberotel Lido

Jul 24, 2008

This hotel is really nice. It's location is perfect and the views of the red sea, both at night and day are lovely. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. View of the sea from our room was fantastic. We stayed B&B, there is a good selction to choose from for breakfast. The pool is beautiful, its not as big as other pools but its just right! No need to bring towels as you get these at the pool and at the beach. I would definitely recommend snorkling, even if you buy your own snorkle in the town and do it yourself. It was one of the best things we did. All the staff were very friendly and helpful, we couldn't have asked for more from them. If you want a relaxing hotel, I would definitely recommend staying here (although it's not really a place for children as its so chilled out).
Namma Bay is a good little spot. The strip is full of lights, nice bars and lovely restaurants. Come 8pm the strip fills up with people and begins to get busy. Some nice restaurants I would recommed are; the mexican (beside little buddah), Pompodor, the indian beside that, the italian at the end of the strip (go up escalators), although the lasagne isn't the best :-/ Hard Rock Cafe and TGI Fridays are the same as home (but cheaper). I wasn't impressed with the service in TGI's our food took way too long to come and wasn't warm and seemed as if it had been lying out for a while.
The camel bar (open rooftop) is nice for a few drinks, little buddah is a really chilled out bar (a little more expensive than other places),starts to get busy later on in the night and the DJ plays some good music. They have lovely cocktails (don't try the spicy one though, the waitress convinced me to try it, BIG MISTAKE! it is the most disgusting drink ever). We went into PACHA, the first night was good but the 2nd wasn't as lively. It's a little expensive 25e entrance on a Friday but it was cheaper on the Sunday. You have to buy tokens to buy your drinks, which was a bit of a pain. You get 2 free tokens on entrance but if you drink vodka it means one for the shot and one for the mixer. You can buy cheaper drinks at one of the bar areas kinda hidden away at the back.
No matter how much you try to avoid getting an upset tummy, you are more than likey to get one. Bring tablets with you or get them in the chemist over there, they are very helpful int he chemist and the tablets do the trick!
We went on two excursions, a jeep safari and quad bikes. The information they give on the trips is pretty similar but they are quite different. I would def. recommend the quad bikes, they are alot of fun.
Here's my one complaint....if you're Iirsh and book with Budget Travel note you don't get a meal on the flight! It didn't even say on the ticket or in the conditions. We had to stop off on the way over in Luxor for over and hour! We really should have been provided with food for such a long journey. You can of course buy food on the plane, but there's a limited selection. Maybe bring your own sandwiches :-)
Overall Namma Bay is a busy, lively clean little place and I will definitely be returning. Hope I have convinced you to take a trip over and ENJOY!

“Brilliant Hotel, Brilliant Holiday!!”

Iberotel Lido

5 of 5 stars

The Lido is a great hotel situated in Naama Bay, just a 2 minute walk from all the bars, shops and restaurants in the resort.

We arrived to the hotel at 2.30am after a four hour delay from Manchester :( and were greeted by the friendly reception staff. The 2 men in reception checked us in, giving us our room key, towel cards etc and then a bell boy showed us to our room.

The rooms are lovely. Ours had a massive king size bed, table with two chairs, dressing table and stool and tv, a good sized balcony with sea view and view of Naama Bay and a bathroom with a brilliant shower.

The rooms also have a minibar, and the prices aren't too bad. They aren't re-filled as standard but I would guess that if you ask reception they would come and re-stock the fridge for you. We went to a shop and bought bottles of water, coke etc and kept these in the fridge with no problem at all. On that note I would definately recommend you buy a bottle of two of spirits in duty free on your way out as alcohol is quite expensive in Sharm, Vodka & mixer around £4-5 so it makes things a little cheaper if you've brought something with you to sit and have a last drink of the evening on the balcony!

The maids come every day to clean the room and put in fresh towels, toiletries and then come round in the early evening to check that the room is ok for you and see if you need any more towels etc. Our maid was brilliant, really polite and helpful and did some lovely towel art for us!!

We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis and the breakfast was brilliant, cereals, yoghurt, pastries, breads, omelette station etc. There was no full english type of breakfast, but you don't want it, it's too hot to be filling your face like that!!

There are 3 areas where you can sunbathe, swim etc. The rooftop pool, the beach and the jetty. They all have plenty of sun loungers so you can sit wherever you want to go, but there aren't so many that you feel on top of eveybody else. There is a pool bar and a beach bar and both serve food all day, burgers, salads, pizza etc. We found the prices to be slightly more expensive than in Naama Bay but not ridiculously so and it's worth paying the little bit more just so you don't have to start walking around town in the 40 degree heat!

The hotel has a restaurant which also opens for lunch and dinner, which is used by half board & all inc guests but you can go for a meal there if you are staying b&b, either by paying for that meal or they do a discounted package of 3 meals for £21 (I think).

There is also an A la Carte restaurant - On the Deck. This restaurant is open to anyone and is located on the wooden jetty where you can sunbathe in the day. The sea around the jetty is lit up at night so you can look at the fish while you eat and the restaurant is really romantic, all candlelight and romantic music...Guys if you're thinking of proposing this is the place to do it, my fiance wanted to take the ring back and do it again, it's such a lovely setting!! The food here is gorgeous, definately recommend a visit. It's a bit more expensive than most restaurants in Naama Bay but not majorly so and it's really worth it.

There's also a lovely bar at the hotel - La Folie. Its right on the front of the hotel overlooking the sea and Naama Bay, it's got comfy sofas and nice music and it's a lovely bar to have a relaxing drink at.

With regards to tipping I would say just tip when you feel appropriate with the amount you feel appropriate. We left our tipping till the last day and didn't find that we received any lesser treatment for doing so, however there were some people that tipped to begin with to ensure particular spots at the pool etc. If you are desperate for a particular spot then fair enough but otherwise I wouldn't bother as we always managed to get sunloungers wherever we wanted to sit, regardless of the time we went.

All in all we LOVED the Lido. A beautiful hotel with all the facilities you need, friendly, helpful staff and right in Naama Bay. I'd definately recommend it, and wish I was still there!!!

“Best hotel ive ever stayed in.”

Iberotel Lido

To anyone wanting to go to this hotel, I am very very envious. Myself and a friend (both single and 23yrs old) went to this hotel at the end of june, and as a travel agent for 7 years, ive visited many many hotels, and I can honestly say ive never been to a hotel where you are treated so specially, and as more like a friend to the staff than "just another holiday maker". this was not only to us, young blonde girls, but to every person staying there. The service was like ive never experienced before. From the moment we arrived, we were taken to reception, handed an ice cold flannel to freshen ourselves up, as it was very hot......our suitcases were taken to the room by one of the men there, where we were shown how to use the free security box.

Our first evening was great fun. we ventured up to the pool bar where we were greeted by SALAMA. if his boss is reading this, you really should give him a pay rise, because he really did contribute a huge part to making our holiday memorable. he is fun, polite, and entertaining. The staff here cannot do enough for you. due to the heat we had to drink a lot of water. it was not just handed to us accross the bar, we were told to go back to our sun loungers, where it was carried over to us in a bucket full of ice, with cups. for a 4* excellently priced hotel, touches like this we just didnt expect. nothing was too much trouble.

HANNY in the restaurant, KHALID at the bar, and OSAMA were all very friendly, and made our holiday. The food in the restaurants was varied, the a'la carte restaurant is sooooooooo romantic. the setting, the view, everything about it was a lovely experience, food fantastic too......

The location of the hotel again could not be better, 2 mins walk to the center of Nama bay, where there are loads of restaurants, and shisha bars where you can smoke the odd fruity tobacco. shopping is also good, and we didnt find people too pushy at all. you just have to have ur wits about urself like everywhere you go.

Would definately reccommend you to get a cab to the "OLD MARKET" which is like the old town, where there are some really cheap local fish restaurants. See SALAMA for advice, he reccommended one for us, and a place called fantasia where you can go and see a belly dancing show, and really get the feel of being in egypt........

am definately going back to this hotel, as i know that if i go back to sharm and stay somewhere else, i'll definately be dissapointed.........oh, and also, never any probs getting sunloungers, as the hotel is small, never any more than about 20 people round the pool every day........ive stayed at 5* hotels before, that have looked completely average next to the service and the overall holiday we had here.

Hope this has helped, Lisa and Fiona from Uk.

“Perfect location”

Iberotel Lido

We have just got back from a weeks stay at the Lido. Booked through Thomas Cook online which I wouldnt recommend as they dont tell you that transfers arent included and then try and sting you for an extra £40 on top! We arranged direct with the hotel to pick us up and drop us off and cost about a tenner.
Hotel location is perfect! Right at the end of the strip for Naama bay. 5 minute walk into the centre but far away so you dont hear the noise. Asked for a sea view and it was worth it as the view is fantastic.
We just stayed B&B and I dont think it would have been worth staying all inclusive. The breakfast was ok usual stuff. Staff extremely helpful and friendly. The main bar was badly stocked, had very little in way of drinks from the menu so if you were staying AI unless you happy drinking Stella all night and very little else then would have been disappointing. The 'On deck' restaurant is amazing. The deck is all lit up at night and you can see a wide array of fish swimming round you, lovely romantic setting. The food was good. We ate most nights at the hotel (the A la Carte menu not the buffet) and it wasnt too expensive). Going into Naama Bay there are a few bars and restaurants and we didnt find we got hassled. Would recommend the Little Budha restaurant which is a Sushi bar. Its a bit dark in there but the food we had was tremendous. Also after reading many write ups tried the Hard Rock Cafe which was ok nothing too special usual burger and chips. There is a bar called the Camel Bar (upstairs from the Camel Diving place) and that had a decent drinks menu, lovely lovely surroundings and played good music. One thing I would recommend is snorkling. My only regret is that we didnt do it earlier in our holiday (mainly because I was too scared of shraks) once I had done it I wanted to try the diving. Was a great experience. We went to Ras Mohammad. Make sure you cover up though and use a very high factor on your back as its extremely hot when you are out at sea and the wind masks it.
Temperature was 47deg that day! All in all the temperature through the day was between 35-40deg and at night its in the 100's as well. Extremely humid. Dont pack too many clothes it is very hot. Avoid going in August as apparently temperatures reach up to 55deg and even the locals were saying its too hot!
We are both extremely ill now. Were careful with what we ate, where we ate and what we drank and constantly used hand gel when we touched anything so I think if you are going to get the Pharoahs curse you are going to get it regardless of what precautions you use

All in all the hotel was great, staff great, location great!

“great vacations... but!”

Iberotel Lido

Jul 14, 2008
2/2 found this review helpful

i have just returnetd from Sharm, Iberotel Lido hotel.
must say, this was the best vacations i have ever had. the hotel it self is great, couldn't find any better, also the staff.
i stayed in a quiet room , with a view on marine - very nice. if you don't want to be disturbed from the noise from the center all night, you must get the room on that site.
the restaurant is so close to the sea, with a good food. it doesn't matter what time you come, you could always find a good table to sit. there's also on deck restaurant, once a week they had dinner there with a live music, wich is very nice and could be romantic.
the beach is not so big, but always there are free deck chair with a towel. the sea is nice, with a coloured fisehes.
the pool is on the roof, with a magnificent view over the nama bay.
bars... enjoyable lounge bar, with a breath taking view over the bay and marine.
center of nama bay is five minutes walking away.

BUT.... at the second day, my mobile was stolen from my room, and when i reported this in reception, they actually didn't do anthing about it. they just gave me a free late check out at 6pm, at the last day. so, be very careful where you are leaving your stuff.

anyway, in all, i had a great time.
