Returned home yesterday from a week's stay at the Mexicana and we had a fab time. The room was clean and very well presented with a pool view, (although there were older rooms within the complex) and the grounds were beautiful. There are 2 pools and the larger of the 2 that we used was a good size with plenty of sunbeds. We stayed all inclusive, and although there was a limited variety of food, it was all lovely. A word of caution, though, the food wasn't at all tailored for children. A/I drinks are served in plastic glasses around the pool, but this wasn't a problem as you needed to drink them quick before they got too warm! The staff at this hotel are one of its best features...always cheerful and wanting to do everything possible to make your stay enjoyable. There is a free bus service to 2 beaches (the coral one is the better of the 2) and the nightlife of Naama Bay, but the buses get very busy so be there early and be prepared for foreigners who don't know how to queue! We will definitely visit the Mexicana again.

The good points, great swimming pools, sun-bathing area, friendly staff, clean hotel but could do with improvements. The bad things are the food quality was very poor and bland and quite often cold except for the salad which was warm. Not recommended for children as there are no entertainment. As an all inclusive package this was the worst we have ever been on, because the drinks were served in plastic glasses and warm. This changed when you had to pay for them. All inclusive stops twelve noon on day of departure, and we were not getting picked up from the hotel until six thirty. Which ment six and a half hours with no room. Kids were only allowed one ice-cream a day which was very poor concidering the hot weather and you are supposed to be ALL INCLUSIVE! There wasnt any fruit and you had to pay for the fresh fruit juice. No tea or coffee facilities in rooms. The managements attitude changed from being polite to arragant once the all inclusive band was taken off. We will certainly not recommend this hotel in the near future. We (my boyfriend and i) have recently returned from our stay at the mexicarna sharm resort where we went to celebrate my 21st birthday. The hotel itself was fantastic, the gardens were beautuful and well looked after and the pools were clean and tidy, the hotel also providing pool/beach towels for guests was also a nice advantage. The room was very clan and tidy, fresh flowers the room for us each day however it could do with an upgrade, the bathroom had a cracked sink and the shower is very unsafe as it is very slippery. We were also recommended (and we pass on this information) of tipping the hotel staff 10 eygptian pounds each day. However we were very disappointed by the hotels mexicana beach, it was very small and dirty i stepped on a piece of glass walking to the sea. The other private beach was completly different and we totally recommend it for snorkling, the coral was amazing.
We opted for bed and breakfast and were quite glad, the breakfast was not very exciting, omlettes and egg on toast each day, we were glad we did not choose all inclusive as lot of the guests we spoke 2 had said the food was terrible.

Our first impressions were favourable but as the week unfolded we have to say favourable turned to moderate. The hotel itself was clean, spacious with an impressive pool, the rooms clean and tidy but in need of a few improvements. We were all inclusive, we found that the food was very limited, the drinks were poured into a plastic container around the pool (less than half a pint ) The staff around the pool, resteraunt and reception were very polite and helpful.
We arrived on Monday night at19:00hrs 12/05/08 by Tuesday lunch time our holiday started to go downhill due to a stomach bug, this lasted from Tuesday to Saturday morning. You could say that this was just bad luck but when we went to the Pharmacy they told us this was very common, we were also told that bringing our own medication from England would have no effect, (this was true)
The day we handed our key back to reception (this had to be 12 noon) the all inclusive band was removed at the same time but we still had a couple of hours to wait before we left for the airport, we decided to have our lunch around the pool along with a couple of drinks, this time we had to pay for everything but the drinks were in glasses and the rest of the bottle left with you, talk about double standards.
