Wouldnt hesitate to stay here esp for one night like we did.
Check in was a breeze and the staff very attentive.Nice spacious lobby.Rooms were quiet and clean with comfy beds.Restaurants served average Indian fare.Outdoor restaurant seemed nice and romantic but we didnt try it sincenobody was eating there.
Loved Khajuraho. It was quaint, peaceful compared to the rest of India.Hotel was laid-back.Not many options for lodging and this one seemed like one of the best.We would recommend it esp for short visits.

“Good for a comfortable stay!”

We as family with two children (15 and 18), stayed the 8th and 9th of July in this hotel. We arrived at 10.30 in the evening arriving from Varanasi after eight hours by train and about 2 1/2 hour by car from Satna over a very bad road; more than one hour no asphalt or a very small strip suited for traffic in only one direction!
The reception of the hotel, in a giant lobby, had the correct feeling how to treat you at that moment. Perhaps because it was low season, we got a lot of attention and in no time we had some nice twin bedded rooms.
Although it was rather late to eat and there were almost no other guest in the restaurants, we had a pleasant meal and had no idea that we had to hurry because it was closing time.
When we returned in our rooms, my wife and daughter saw some jumping small insects in their room. You fear the worst, but we were reassured by the staff that in the monsoon period grass flees might enter the rooms under the doors.
Before we asked, housekeeping kindly offered another room to reassure us completely!

The rooms are quiet and we have slept well. As we experienced more in India, we sometimes had no electricity. In this hotel it was only for some minutes.
The breakfast was sufficient, but in other hotels we had more choice; perhaps because one had only a few guests for breakfast.
The hotel has a pool and also fantastic pool table; my son liked that pool table!

Comfortable of the Chandela hotel is that it is (from the international hotels) the shortest work (about 15 minutes) to the lake and the beginning of the village where you have some restaurants and shops. From that place it is only a few minutes to the western temple group.
The second evening was had dinner at restaurant Paradise with a view on the lake. This restaurant we would especially recommend for other Dutch travellers (it is indicated by a sign with 'Betrouwbaar Eten') because the owner has a son in Holland and speaks some Dutch.

“Found the hotel very boring”

We had two nights here as part of our holiday to India. The lobby looked spacious & inviting but that was about it. We were given a twin beds room as they had run out of doubles. It was comfortable & adequate is all you can say about it. The bathroom was in serious need of decorating. The food was pretty poor too with the breakfast being the best meal.
The location of the hotel is just too far to walk into the centre of Khajuraho & there is not a lot to do around the hotel. There are some shops within the hotel but constant pestering by the owners/workers puts you off entering. This point I made to the management when checking out.

I will give one member of staff praise though - the sports instructor he gave us an excellent yoga lesson.

Stay here one night as you must see the Chandela Temples but get the after lunch flight to Varanasi otherwise boredom will set in.

“Taj with no 'Taj' standards”

Chandela Hotel

We booked it thinking it would have Taj standards, but we were proven wrong. The entrance was under construction and we weren't informed of that and as you know the first impression is the last one. Absolutely won't stay there again. In that case in any Taj group of hotels. The rooms were alrite. The carpeted rooms smelled moldy and the hotel is very old and not well kept. Our frens got tired of it and left a day early and since it was all paid for we could not even get a refund due to their rigid policy and we just dealt with it. Definately would not recommend it!!!
