This is a high-priced hotel for China. Even bottled water is 25 yuan a bottle (and 2 around the corner outside). The diningroom -- albeit good -- is pretty expensive: breakfast is, of course, extra. Yet the breakfast is excellent!. The business centre staff could not have been more helpful. So I guess that you get what you pay for!
However, if you book a room with a view of West Lake, watch out for the dome of the grandiose entrance: it blocks partially the view of the lake -- and of the waterworks on the lake. (However, the hotel does face the water show directly -- and a viewer can ignore the dome in the way.) A strange note was the presence of young women selling "massage" right inside the hotel (in the halls). How did they get in? (With western clients, I assume...)
