Arlington Residence Court

The location was excellent. The neighborhood is safe and pleasant. The orange line to DC is accessible, swift and easy to ride. The breakfast was generous with hot and cold options: pancakes or french toast; grits or oatmeal; sausage or bacon; always offered were potatoes, yogurt, cold cereals, bagels, muffins, toast, beverages. Light supper: we did 2/3 and got poached salmon and rice pilaf with zucchini one night and penne pasta with chicken and beans and asparagus the next night. Aways offered were rolls, salad, beverages, including soft drinks and wine for purchase. Dining room has a nice view of the Washington Memorial and Capitol building in the distance. The dresser drawers, desk top, some counters and refrigerator handles needed wiping. But I always bring my hand sanitizer to do these things, especially the remote, in every hotel. Check in staff and dining staff were curt and efficient. Check out staff, housekeeping, and other management encountered were kind and friendly. We paid $127 a night through AAA and this was a huge savings from other offers I've seen. I asked for a NON-pet friendly room. Whole Foods is just a brief walk away. We stayed 7 nights and we would definitely recommend this.

“It was perfect for our needs”

Arlington Residence Court

Mar 17, 2008

We had a 3 bedroom suite for 4 days (we were in town for a memorial and interment at Arlington Cemetary of our father who was a hero in WWII). The rooms were very fresh, they must have been re-done very recently. Everything was very clean. Hotel is very convenient to everything, including a 3 block walk (albeit up a very steep hill) to the Metro that takes us to key points in Washington. We will stay there in future trips.

“Good stay at the Arlington Residence Court”

First, I’m going to echo wolfeee99’s review - the front desk needs a lesson in customer service. Most (not all) seem annoyed by requests/questions.

An example: The night before we left, I asked if there was a scale to weigh our luggages as shopping in Potomac Mills had taken its toll. The front desk told me there was a scale, but they didn’t know where it was, but “…maybe you could find it somewhere in the garage.” (I didn’t even realize the hotel had a garage.)

That same night I also called to request a wakeup call for the next morning. The front desk didn’t acknowledge my request, simply hung up. I called back and was told “I got it.” Well…we never got our wakeup call. Good thing I had set my cellular phone alarm to ring. In fairness, it was the same day of Daylight Saving. Maybe our wakeup call came an hour later?

I have other examples, but I think the point is made.

The ironic thing is there are notices in the rooms saying to bring any complaints to the front desk…my complaints would be about the front desk! The other employees –the staff on the 8th floor where meals are served and the maids – were really nice and friendly.

Because we stayed longer than a week, our AAA rate for a 1 bedroom suite was well worth it. The suite had a full kitchen and was very roomy. The wireless internet is really slooooooow, but it’s still a great place to relax after walking in Washington DC.

Using the metro brought us in and out of Washington DC easily! The metro stop is closeby. It is up a steep hill, but manageable. We exited out the 1st floor by the fitness center which cut down on part of the hilly walk. There is supposed to be a shuttle to/from the metro, but it was always busy taking their longterm residents elsewhere, so we never were able to use the shuttle.

Daily breakfasts were plentiful and cut down on the money we spent on outside food (really didn’t need lunch). Dinners on Mon – Wed are toted as “light” but are really more than enough to fill you. No pool, but the fitness center was clean and had good equipment.

Bottom line is, despite the front desk, I would stay here again.

“Oh My God - this is the dream!”

Stayed with a group of 75. Check-in took a while - they were not ready for us, unlike all the other hotels we stayed in during this tour. Breakfast was amazing! full breakfast - pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausages, as well as the other breakfast staples - muffins, bagels, toast, cold cereal, etc. Served at the eighth floor with a beautiful view, and a leisure room right beside it (couple of large screen TVs, pool table). There is an area with a PC for Internet access. Only one of the two computers was working, Washer and dryer machines on every floor, it seems. Foodstuffs for sale at the hotel were too expensive. Two Tylenol for $2! Walk up the avenue a couple of blocks and you have Subway, a pizza place, several other restaurants, AMC theatres, CVS pharmacy, and many other shops, The room was superb! Huge leather ottoman, amazing bed, big bathroom, FULL kitchen, full size refrigerator, china, cookware, glasses, silverware, cabinets, dishwasher machine, two stove ranges. Classy beautiful - amazing!

“Good for extended stay”

Arlington Residence Court

3 of 5 stars
Covington, Louisiana
Feb 15, 2008

I stayed at this hotel for 24 days. For the most part I enjoyed my stay. The room was fabulous for extended stay. Kitchenette with full size fridge w/icemaker, sink with disposal, dishwasher, stove & microware, silverware, pots & pans. Granite countertops in room and bathroom. Spacious sitting area. The gym was also spacious with 3 treadmills, 2 ellipticals, 2 bikes, full free weights set. Free buffet breakfast every morning and free buffet dinners on M, T, W, nights. Location was in walking distance to an AMC theater, restaurants and quick drive to Ft Myer. One of the big negatives was the internet was so slow! I used the wireless and their wired network with the same slowness. (Almost like dial-up most of the time.) I asked about the slowness and they said "that just how it is." Which leads me to my next gripe...most of the desk staff could use a lesson in customer service. Not all of them, but most of them acted put off by the slightest question or request. Also, count on an additional $12 a night for parking.
