“Phoenix Weekend April 2008”

Radisson Hotel Phoenix City Center

2 of 5 stars
Las Cruces, NM
Apr 15, 2008

Went there for a weekend stay. The photos made the property look absolutely beautiful and the rooms very spacious. We got a Cabana Suite on the roof with a "private pool". There were no photos showing the rooms, but because it was higher priced, the assumption was that the rooms would look the same or maybe a little nicer. When we checked in, the room was very stuffy, there wasn't any kleenex in the bathroom, the room was very cramped for it accommodating 4. When the hotel was booked, I was advised that breakfast was included. Since I usually travel with the kids, I always make sure a hotel I stay at offers that. When it came to breakfast time, they told us we had to pay $8.50 per person (kids also) since we didn't purchase a separate package. Also the front desk was not very professional, seemed they were always putting the blame on the prior shift. Also when it came to booking, I reserved the room on one card, handed them another to charge. Both cards were frozen over the weekend because they charged both cards full amount (almost $900). I have stayed at beautiful hotels for the same price or even less...the Radisson in San Diego was a lot cleaner, a lot more professional, and a lot more pleasant all around. I won't be staying here again. Also, there was construction all downtown which made it difficult to get there. An adult movie store was right across the street. Try to explain that to kids!

“Worst hotel stay EVER !”

Radisson Hotel Phoenix City Center

Mar 16, 2008

I can honestly say that this was my WORST hotel stay EVER ! After checking into room 233 of this hotel, I heard the groaning of the elevator and immediately went back to the front desk to change my room. After being told by Eric at the front desk that they might be able to move me into another room (since he and other hotel staff were WELL AWARE that the rooms by the elevators were very noisy), he finally said that they didn't have any more rooms available that evening. I reluctantly went back to my room and tried to sleep. Finally at 2 a.m. after trying for several hours to try to sleep but being prevented from sleeping by the groaning of the elevator, I went back to the front desk and talked with the person now at the front desk, Scott. He told me that there were no other rooms available that night and that there was nothing he could do. After insisting they honor their 100% gurantee of satisfaction and give me a refund immediately, and convincing Scott to do that, I then checked out and walked (yes, at 2 a.m.) to the Holiday Inn Midtown Phoenix from where I am writing this review. The contrast could not have been more striking. The Holiday Inn was comfortable, newly remodeled and most importantly QUIET.

I intend to write Homer Sarem, the General Manager at the Radisson Hotel Phoenix City Center, a note when I return home to express my disappointment in his hotel to ask him why in the world they would book people to stay in the rooms right next to the elevators. Since Eric and Scott and other hotel staff admitted that they are WELL AWARE that these rooms are very noisy and that they always receive complaints when they put people into them, they should have NO REASON to put people into these rooms as they are UNFIT for ANYONE to try to sleep in.

By the way, after wondering if perhaps I was being too sensitive to the noise of the elevator, I met a colleague the next morning who was also booked at this Radisson. Before I had a chance to say anything about my experience from the previous night, he started telling me about his horrible experience in another room (135) next to the elevator. In his case, they had also told him that there were no more rooms available in the hotel, but when he went back to the front desk at 1 a.m. after trying unsuccessfully to get to sleep, they were able to locate another room for him.

Over this experience was VERY disappointing.

“nice, clean, safe, newer, a bit far from anything to do”

Radisson Hotel Phoenix City Center

Mar 9, 2008

standard nicer chain hotel was was new. had a great pool area, too cold to use though.

had to take a least a 15 min cab ride to get any where for stuff to do or dinner. lots of places deliver, but took over an hour and a half.

the hotel car service is just alright and rather pricey.

decent resturant over all

“Very disappointing”

Radisson Hotel Phoenix City Center

Good location for the Heard Museum and the Phoenix Art Museum and that's it. Rooms are old, musty and grimy. We stayed for two nights and the room was dirty when we arrived and worse when we left. They remade the bed with the same sheets. Bathtub had hair in it. Room was too close to the elevator and could hear its machinery thrumming at night. On a brighter note, stayed at the Airport Hampton Inn in Tucson the next two nights and it was great. But Radisson Hotel Phoenix City Center was very disappointing. Not recommended.
