This place was heavenly. The timeshare was a wonderful newish one-bedroom with a view out back of the red rocks. I could hardly hear my neighbors as I think they must have used extra-thick insulation. Convenient washer/dryer in the room.

If you go, make sure you get a room with a view. There are many units that just overlook a parking lot or a swimming pool.

It was nice having a jacuzzi near my room. My only ding is that they should have built a bigger pool. The ones they have are quite small. The only other ding is the sales pressure from the club house to go on their tour. It made me afraid to go into the clubhouse, but that was where the Internet was. Their internet connection is incredibly slow (like dialup).

However, the timeshare itself cannot be beat. It is a little farther out of town in West Sedona, but you are away from the frenetic pace as well.

We rented this condo from an owner and it was just gorgeous!! He upgraded us to a deluxe unit right across from the registration. We had a 2 bedroom lock off and were very pleased. We had no trouble at all with hot water in the morning, it was always perfect. The condo had granite counters, stainless steel appliances, jacuzzi tub in the master, plasma TV's throughout. We were asked about the presentation after we checked in but we told them no and they didn't press the issue. We brought my elderly parents who stayed in the studio side of the condo and it was great for a family situation. Very quiet resort as well, I didn't hear a sound. I would totally recommend if you rent here, to ask for a deluxe unit. We had a new unit with new amenities and profesionally decorated. We had a view of the rocks as well from the back balcony.

“great rooms”

Just stayed the weekend at the Summit and had a great time. Since we are Sunterra owners we needed to use the last of our points before the end of the year. I booked a 2 bedroom deluxe lock off. This a studio attached to a one bedroom. So basically, we had a two bedroom/two bath room with an adjoining door. This was the first time we stayed at the resort so we had no idea what the facility would looke like. Our room was in unit 26, which is in the new phase across the street from the sales/ registration building. The decor of the rooms is a lot different than that of those that are adjacent to the sales building. Everything in the room is brand new. We did experience some things in the room that needed some minor maintenance. There is no hot water in the morning. The TV in the living room is a 50" and the bedrooms have a 42" flat panel. The internet sevice will cost 7.95/a day or 21.95 a weekend. The wireless router is right in the room so you get good reception. If you want a deluxe room with the good ameneties, ask for the deluxe rooms in the new phase. We are on the second story and did not hear any of our adjoining neighbors. The view was amazing (ask for unit 26/room 269) The room had amazing views of the mountains and scenery. There is a jacuzzi/spa that is outside next to the unit with great mountain views. We are already planning on going back and trying to get the same room. Just remember to book a 2 bedroom deluxe.

The only drawback to the trip was the sales pitch and the restaurants in Sedona. Even as Sunterra owners we have to go through that. We had to go through "would like to sit through presentation" question to get the parking permit.; hey hold the parking permit hostage until you either commit or decline the sales pitch.
We could not find a decent pace to eat. It was either to expensive, or the food was to weird for our liking. but we did eat at the red planet diner. (If you have kids I would recommend this place. the decor is kind of old, but the food is good and reasonable. It was the only family restaurant we found in sedona. )There are no chain restaurants in Sedona except for Mcdonalds, Burger King, and Dominos; all the other restaurants are mom and pop restaurants.

But, if you get away from the town and go on hikes and enjoy the scenery, Sedona is a great vaction place.

“Request a view!”

Sedona Summit Resort

5 of 5 stars
Rochester Hills, Michigan

We just returned from Sedona and enjoyed a full week at the Summit. The two bedroom provided great accomodations for our family of five! Each teenage son had his own bed (two slept on the pull out sofas). After reading previous reviews, I called two days before to request a condo with a view. Our room and balcony overlooked the beautiful red rocks and we enjoyed a sunrise view each morning. The front desk really delivered when they put us in Building 20 in the upstairs unit #255!

We exchanged our TS for this one and were extremely pleased when we walked in the door to find it very clean with upgrades such as tile floors in kitchen and baths. The resort is definately worthy of its Gold Crown status with RCI. The kitchen was well equipped although we ate most meals out. We really enjoyed the large master suite with a safe for jewelry and a two person jacuzzi tub in the bathroom. Although the furniture was not new, it was in very good condition. The only thing that bothered me was that the art was hung too high (I'm an interior designer, so that explains it) I did enjoy the decor and the architecture of the Summit--really gives the pueblo experience!

There are several pools, including an adult only pool. Each pool has a spa and there are a couple of other spas throughout the complex. The pool area was well maintained and we enjoyed meeting other TS travelers. We loved swapping stories of our day's adventures while in the spa.

Unlike previous reviewers opinions, I did not think the Summit staff was high pressure. I was ready when they sent us over to the concierage desk for our parking permit--the young lady recommended that we attend a Thursday presentation to see the newer section and offered a generous voucher to the Cowboy Club. I said that I would let her know later in the week. By Thursday AM, we decided we could spare the 90 minutes for the presentation. We called the concierage desk and booked the 2:30 tour. A couple of minutes later, she called back and told us that they were completely booked. I was really surprised. Needless, to say, we didn't do the tour nor did we get the credit. Still went to the Cowboy Club and enjoyed a great meal. Our guys decided to spend the afternoon at Slide Rock for a second time--we had a blast. They enjoyed the scenery (meaning all the young girls in bikini's!)

The resort offered great activities for kids, but we opted out for other daytime adventures. Make sure to go on the Pink Jeep Broken Arrow tour! You'll love it!!

“Very nice accomodations”

We recently stayed at this resort for a week and had a wonderful time. If you can get passed the high pressure sales pitch from the concierge's desk, you're home free to do what you want to do. They do everything they can to get you to attend their 90 minute sales pitch. Offers for free weekends, food or jeep tour certificates. It took some time, but we managed to get out of it. The front desk was accomodating. I asked for a room with a view and I was told I needed to make that request at the time of booking. Disney Vacation Club never told me that when I booked. The desk accomodated us with a partial view 1 bedroom. Except for some small shrubs we had a perfect view of Red Rocks. We were right across the street from the main building so we had access to two pools which was very nice. The farther away you are the more you have to hoof it to the pool or drive. Our room was very nice and clean. It's great having a full kitchen. Our only complaint on the room was the bed and pillows. The mattress was rather lumpy and uncomfortable and I think the Sunday Newspaper is thicker than the pillows. Housekeeping will come in and clean and change towels mid-week. As far as things to do, there is plenty to choose from. We did the Pink Jeep Tour (Broken Arrow and Scenic Tour Combo) All I can say is WOW!!! What an experience. We had a great guide and took awesome pictures. We went to Jerome (eat at The Haunted Hamburger) and enjoyed our visit. It's not far from Sedona and doesn't take the full day. Fort Verde was another nice stop. We also did the Grand Canyon. It's a long drive (approx. 2 hrs) but it is definitely worth it. We did a sunset jeep tour and it was amazing. What a beautiful part of the country. A must see for everyone.
