“Decent Stay”

Embassy Suites Hotel Phoenix - Tempe

Jun 26, 2008

A little shocked at how the hotel was setup outdoor, motel style, but other than that a pretty textbook Embassy Suites.

I had a first floor room, and was a little freaked out at how the guestroom door didn't come all the way down to meet the floor, leaving about a inch of space. My fear would be any insects that could enter the room, but had no issues with any entering.

AC POWER Plentiful, plugs throughout the suite, and close to the bed

BATHROOM been through renovation, but lacked attention to detail, found a single bug on the floor

BEDDING Comfortable, white sheets hiding a velux blanket within

CLEANLINESS Overall pretty clean

INTERNET $9.95/day, wireless and wired

LOBBY Welcoming, but you have to leave the lobby to access the guestrooms, motel style

PARKING Plenty of free parking

POOL Pool centered within hotel, very close to guest rooms

STAFF Very pleasant

WATER PRESSURE Great

TELEVISION Analog SD TV, with good assortment of channels.
A crack in the exterior door had me freaked out about insects entering the room, ended up placing the bedspread as a barrier.
Found the airconditioner fan to be extremely loud, and a musky almost moldy smell when entering the guestroom. At least the bedroom window opens

“Good business stay, but too close to the highway”

Embassy Suites Hotel Phoenix - Tempe

May 27, 2008

I've checked in about an hour ago. This is my first stay here.

Staff is friendly, room is clean and nice. You can see results of recent renovation.

I've got a room which faces the freeway. Honestly, you do not want to be in your room during the day and evening because highway noise is quite loud. So if you leave 7AM and come back 11PM than it probably would work for you.

Besides that, everything is fine.

“Solid Tempe choice”

Embassy Suites Hotel Phoenix - Tempe

5 of 5 stars
Chicago!

I am a big fan of Embassy Suites and this property is not as luxurious as some, but is a very good choice. The rooms have been recently upgraded and it is hard to beat the space of an EB suite. The in-room amenities of a wet bar, pull-out sofa and refrigerator are all plusses. The place is quiet (away from the pool area).
The patio is ideal for cooked-to-order breakfasts as well as the manager's receptions of an evening. The liquor flows feely and the drinks are stiff. It is wonderful to sit outside. The inside space is a bit cramped compared to most EB facilities (I am most familiar with those in downtown Chicago), but being able to sit and drink and chat outside is ideal.
The location next to the 60 interstate is perfect. I was staying here with buddies and going to spring break games and enjoying the entire Tempe experience. EB's location, breakfast and reception should make it onto one's short list.

“Very nice hotel”

Embassy Suites Hotel Phoenix - Tempe

5 of 5 stars
Minneapolis, MN
Mar 30, 2008

I stayed at the Embassy Suites in Tempe from March 26-29, and had a very positive experience. When I arrived around Noon, my room was not ready, but the front desk and housekeeping had it ready within an hour. Once I got settled, I was able to take advantage of the pool, whirlpool during the day; complimentary breakfast in the mornings; manager's reception in the evenings.

I agree with a couple other postings that the complimentary breakfast had a more limited variety in some areas compared to other breakfast buffets I have experienced. One is able to get omlettes, pancakes, french toast, cereal; breakfast potatoes; bacon; sausage; however, the pastries and fruit were much more limited (i.e., Couple muffins, croisants; yogurt, and one or two types of fruit). Each person has different expectations when it comes to breakfast so perception will influence this opinion.

The manager's reception included drinks, soda, popcorn and chips/
salsa. Very popular treat to end the afternoon.

There happened to be several baseball groups staying at the hotel. Although I did not hear them from my room, they did monopolize the pool a couple of the days, which made it difficult for other people to use it at times. I am only including this to give future travellers a heads up if you are looking at coming to Arizona in March or April.

I would definitely recommend staying at this hotel (for those who want complete serenity, it might be difficult to get in the early spring due to junior high/high school related tournaments taking place in the area). The staff was very friendly, and noticed them going out of their way to assist the guests who had questions. I hope to stay at this hotel again next year.

“Finally Renovated!”

Embassy Suites Hotel Phoenix - Tempe

4 of 5 stars
Commerce, Michigan
Mar 19, 2008

I've probably stayed at this hotel over 100 nights for business, and I was so relieved when they finished the badly needed room renovations. The furniture/decorations were a welcome upgrade. Although I still wouldn't call these rooms luxurious, they are extremely spacious. There is a large family/dining room when you enter with a TV, couch, table, mini-fridge and microwave. Then a short hallway with the bathroom opens up to a spacious bedroom with a TV, desk, dresser, etc.

This hotel is extremely easy to access from the highway. There is ample parking available, but be prepared for a long walk to your room. The hotel is split into about 10 buildings, with park-like grounds, a large outdoor pool and seating areas between the buildings. If you get stuck in one of the back buildings, it's a long walk, outside. This isn't so fun in 110 degree summer heat, lugging your suitcase around.

The front desk and cleaning staff are very friendly... no complaints there. The rooms are typically very clean, although there have been a few instances of hair in the bed sheets or bathroom.

There is a decent Mexican restaurant attached to the hotel (Garcia's). It's good for a quick meal after a long day of work. They have a good size bar, with multiple TV's playing sports. Speaking of drinks, the happy hour from 5-7 has free drinks and snacks, and is a nice touch. The buffet breakfast is OK, with a nice selection and friendly service.
