I was placed into a room that over looked the freeway and was right next to a maintenance shop. So at night the freeway noise keep me awake and during the day there was endless noise from the staff. The bed was like a rock. This was my first Marriott stay in a few years as I use Hyatt and Starwood hotels for business and they have great beds. They charge resort rates here but this is no resort, its just another hotel in the city next to a major freeway. The pool was over run with drunks in their 20s and is not a good family setting. They gave guests wristbands for the pools but they were not checked and i saw locals unloading from cars in bathing suits all day long. This might be a good collage spring break hotel but not for business or family vacations.

“What a "Butte"!”

The Buttes, A Marriott Resort

5 of 5 stars
Atlanta, Georgia

What a unique Marriott property! Both Modern and connected to nature at the same time. Isolated location on edge of Tempe is a draw back. If you like baseball you'll like stadium next door. If you don't, be sure to schedule stay around the games. Very near airport for easy arrival and departure. The design of the property is utterly unique. Even if you do not plan to stay the night, it is worth a visit to enjoy the imaginative and playful design. Great property to park and take a walk and enjoy a drink on the Buttes.

“The Buttes and Spring Training Baseball”

The Buttes, A Marriott Resort

Mar 12, 2008

This is the 7th year we have been to the Buttes. And since Marriott took this facility over from Wyndham, it has gone up, up, up in quality and service. The changes they are making at the resort are noticable in both service and in the facilities. I will note, the cost of breakfast in the restaurant has gone way up as well!
With its location, the adjacent Tempe Diablo Stadium and the pools, we will be back each year. My only wish? That the rooms were a tad larger. Oh well, can't have everything. We really like the patio rooms that look out on the pools. Really nice location. Although you are paying "resort hotel prices" it is still a great time, and worth the cost.

  • This TripAdvisor Member:
    • Liked — the pools, the location and the setting
    • Disliked — Charge for internet service - pay all that money for a room, and they still hack you for internet - give me a break!

I won a trip this year from Coors light beer a trip to the superbowl and they put us up at the Marriott Butte Resort,It was so beautiful and everyone was so nice and considerate, not once did i have a bad experience. They made sure your needs were taken care of everytime i saw some one that worked their they asked if their was anything i needed and how was my stay was,You will meet the freindliest staff no matter what part of the resort you go to, Its beautiful to walk around, hang around the pool soak up some sun and they have a bar outside and they serve you at the pool and the bartenders i met were very nice and we talked with them to for awhile i also met alot of people from different states who also enjoyed the resort and gabbed with them.We climbed a mountain they have their ,that was fun.The food i rate as excellent they must have hired the best chefs and servers to work there. The food was the best ive ever had at a hotel.I am a smoker, they have areas to smoke in. they gave me a room close so i wouldnt have to go far for a smoke.Every morning i got up i went outside they have coffee set up outside for everyone and i enjoyed my coffee with a ciggarette on the bench overlooking a mountain with the sun rising. I got up everyday out their at 6.30am the landscape is increddibly beautiful just sat outside for a good hour and loved every minute of it, i didnt want to go home it was the best 5 days ive had in a lifetime ever on a trip. And if i ever get to go again i would surely stay at the Marriott Butte Resort.
