Location outside of the town of Kokopo, but only a couple of minutes drive away. Beautiful section of beach and well-kept property. There were 6 of us, so we rented one of the houses instead of getting multiple single rooms. Houses were nice and comfortable and housegirls cleaned them and washed our dishes during our stay. The on-site dive shop is independently owned and well-run. Restaurant was also good, although the kitchen staff didn't understand their own menu well and my "pasta marinara" was served with cream sauce and seafood instead of tomato sauce.
Only problem: the owner had called Air Niugini to check passenger manifests and Air Niugini told them we weren't on any flights. But, as I experienced so often in PNG, Air Niugini was wrong. So when we got to the resort, they had given our house away and had no rooms for us. We had to stay at a neighboring hotel (a dirty cheap place) the first night. The Rapopo owner said they hadn't heard from us since we booked the house, so they didn't know if we were coming (we had called them the weekend before to confirm...and there's nothing in their policy that requires you to confirm). But once we were checked in the next morning, we were very pleased with the place and found the owners to be very pleasant.
