It's an average hotel in a central location, around the corner from CAA and restaurants close by .. not that anyone (other than a crazy New Yorker like me) walks in LA. It's a wonder why they even bother to have sidewalks in this town. The one night I stayed, I did walk about 3 city blocks to a sushi restaurant, and felt really weird. Although my stay was fine, I probably wouldn't book this hotel again.
The hotel has a very European feel, down to the ancient double door elevator and the TEENY TINY rooms. I stayed in a Parisian Queen room, and it was probably the smallest hotel room I have ever stayed in .. it must have measured no more than 10x10, including the bathroom.
I also experienced the same musty smell that a previous reviewer described, but the staff blamed it on the closed windows, as it was a very rainy week. Certainly it must have been something else, but housekeeping came to the room and doused the room with Morton Brown room spray.
The exercise room was also TEENY TINY, it was the size of a Parisian Queen room ... i.e., 10x10. It has one stairmaster, and one treadmill, and needs a few lightbulbs, as it was darker in there than the Viper Room.
Thankfully the staff was very helpful and friendly; and did everything they could to make it an easy stay.
