“Fantastic for all ages”

Virginia Creek Settlement

May 12, 2008

My 5 year old and I met my mother and her husband for Mothers Day Weekend. We all had a great time. We both drove right up to the Settlement. It is well marked and visable from the street. Our cabin was very nicely decorated and had everything we needed and more. The towels were very, very soft and the beds were very comfortable. The cabin was right on the stream, what fun for my son to play all day. The owners and staff were always wonderful and gracous. We cannot wait to return.

We happened upon this charming "settlement". We stayed in our camper in the campground but ate dinner and breakfast in the restaurant. Excellent food; nearly gourmet. Owners were very friendly and hospitable. The only disappointment was the coin operated showers.

OK here's a great place. We were on the road from SF to Death Valley via Yosemite and we decide to book outside the park. We were not disappointed.
1- The staff is very friendly.
2- Restaurant is good, cheap and copious, with a good atmosphere (internationnal, hikers, hunters, many different people). Breakfast is great, the pancakes are unforgottatble!
3- We were in a motel room it was great. Rooms are spacious and clean, just near the river. Very quiet, bed is +++. A little bit cold, but it's not a big deal when you're under the blankets.

“Great place and a great value”

My daughter and I were looking for a safe and reasonably priced place to stay on a recent vacation (8/2007) in the area of Mono Lake and Yosemite. I found this location on the internet and, based on the previous review written in 2006 was a little hesitant to book the site. But, it was in our price range and location so I took our chances and braced myself for the worse. I was VERY pleasantly surpised to enjoy a wonderful experience and was greeted with hospitality by the camp host during our stay. The place is run on a small town honor system, the cabins are not locked so you simply find your cabin, tent cabin, etc when you arrive. I was given the information I needed to do so when I reserved the site, but I checked in with the office/restaurant when we arrived. All I had to do was ring the doorbell at the office door and someone from the restaurant greeted me and informed me to help myself to the cabin I had reserved. The motel room we stayed in our last night was the best part of the deal, not at all what I expected for a sleepy little town's motel. It was wonderfully covered in a rich wood paneling making it appear as though we were staying in a log cabin, from floor to ceiling including the shower. Great place, we will definitely be staying again. It is close to the main highway 395, so road traffic may keep you up at night if you are a light sleeper and are facing the road.

“Wonderful Service and enjoyable rooms”

What a wonderful place to stay. The staff is friendly, the rooms, cute and clean. The restaurant has wonderful food at reasonable prices. We were traveling with 2 small children who loved looking at all the fun cabins around the property. They loved it when we found the bridge over the stream. Great location - close to Bridgeport, Bodie and Lee Vining. We had a great mini vacation exploring the area. We stayed in Room 5 on this visit. Not a lot of room with a queen bed and 2 twins but enough for a family of 4. On our first visit we stayed in Room 1 - lots of John Wayne memoriabilia. (He supposedly stayed there when making some of his films in the area). Both rooms were clean and comfortable. Try the restaurant - you won't be disappointed in the food.
