“Lovely and Cozy!”

We loved our stay at the Burton Inn for our 10 year anniversary. The owners were out of the country so their son Jason and his fianc Shay took care of us. They are the nicest people! Check in was a breeze! Our room [#17] was beautifully decorated with an asian theme. We had a living room with refrigerator and microwave! My husband loved the 2 TVs so he could watch his sports center. The bed was very, very comfy and the sheets were soft. The bathroom was huge!
The wine and cheese hour was served from 5-7 pm. Here you mingled with the guests and the inn keepers. It's held in the library and there isn't a lot of space and the seating face each other so you're "forced" to talk. Everyone is nice and warm that it's pretty relaxing. Thank god talking is not a problem of mine! They also have movies DVD and VHS [what's that?] and a good selection to choose. Since the town of Cambria is not known for their nightlife - we found ourselves looking for movie rentals every night!
Breakfast the next morning [served from 8-10 am] was deluxe continental style with pastries, fresh fruit, juice, coffee, yogurt, nuts, etc. Also, they serve one extra dish. When we were there it was blueberry waffles [with fresh blueberries] on Sat, and french toast on Sunday.
Overall, a great stay and hospitable hosts!! We would definitely stay here again if our travels take us to Cambria. Thank you Jason and Shay and the Burton Inn!

“Perfect Romantic Getaway!”

The Burton Inn

The Burton Inn can't take full credit for the beautiful weather and Cambria's charm, but considering how well they did everything else, we wouldn’t be surprised if they exerted some positive influence on the sunshine during our stay. Without a doubt, the Burton Inn was a major contributor to the best holiday we've ever had.

Let's start with the location. The Inn sits at the edge of town on Burton Drive. It's within walking distance of all the best shops and restaurants without being surrounded by all the activity.

The Inn itself is charming, well-maintained and holds a lot of visual interest both inside and out. Be sure to check out its library when you go.

Our room was perfect. Suite 24, a large second story room with its own private entrance, was clean and ideal in every way. Amenities included a comfortable king-size bed with down pillows, full sitting area with sofa and chairs, two TVs, a DVD player, VCR and free WI-FI. The kitchenette included a mini-fridge, toaster, microwave oven and coffee maker. The large countertop surrounding the sink and mirror made it easy to get ready in the morning. The separate shower and toilet area were clean and well-tended by the excellent housekeeping staff.

The owners and staff members were very personable and a joy to speak with. They even let us play with Sophie, the bubbly Havanese puppy who lives at the Inn.

The Inn has the feel of a bed and breakfast and the staff was very welcoming, but we never felt the usual pressure to join in the activities which can happen at so many B&Bs. They did offer a 7 PM wine and cheese get together every night and the 8-10 AM breakfasts were always well-appointed with special treats like blueberry Belgian waffles and thick-cut French toast to go along with the large variety of breads, sweets, cereal and fruit.

If we stay in Cambria again, and we have every intention of returning, we will definitely be staying at the Burton Inn.

“Good boutique hotel”

We had a lovely time at the Burton Inn and in Cambria over Presidents' Day Weeked. As other reviews have stated, this is not a B&B, but a small hotel. Our suite (a "superior suite") was HUGE and had very comfortable furniture, was clean and had a mini fridge and microwave (that we didn't even use). We did use the Jacuzzi tub (twice!) and thought this was a nice touch. Beds were soft and supportive and very nice to collapse into and burrow under the covers.
Wine and cheese social hour was nice. Our host was friendly and engaging and did his best to coordinate a group discussion amongst very diverse people. So, the hotel gets 9/10 and the other guests 5 or 6/10.
Breakfast was above average for a "continental breakfast" buffet in the US.
My only concern was the value of what we got for what we paid. We probably paid the right rate for a moderately overpriced tourist town on a holiday weekend and booking only 4 days in advance of our stay.

“Absolutely Adore The Burton Inn”

This is really an exceptional place to stay. My 15 year old daughter, who is a typical critical teenager, still raves about the place and wants to return to the area, largely because of how impressed she was by the Burton Inn - and believe me, we've stayed in some stunning places. It's friendly, quant, the service is excellent and the owner really makes you feel welcome and appreciated. It's charming, quant and cozy. The wine/social time in the evening turned an otherwise horrid day of traveling the coast in heavy rain into a memorable experience. I hold this in memory as one of the best vacation experiences we have ever had - not for the big events (volcanos, etc.) but for the little ones: exception hospitality and comfort. Sure wish there was a closer airport....

“Looking Forward To Next Visit”

The Burton Inn

When we arrived, rain was lightly misting the area, leaving the aroma from the herb garden outside our room, a favorable scent to our senses.

After checking in, we were graciously offered wine and cheese, and a movie from the extensive selection, in the wood paneled library. Believe me, after a long days drive, this was only the beginning of a very relaxing stay.

Our room was very clean and pleasing with all amenities considered. In fact, my husband used to manage a 350-room hotel and made the comment, “This room has absolutely everything in it, and nothing has been left out. Whoever decorated it, knew exactly what they were doing.” We had never stayed in a room that had the same high quality comforters, pillows and sheets, as we do at home. The sheets were 100% Egyptian cotton! We never heard any activity outside our room.

In the dining room, breakfast represented a healthy, conscious choice of fresh fruits, yogurt, whole grains, eggs, French toast or waffles, and fresh squeezed juice, coffee, etc.

We loved the fact that, a variety of shops and restaurants was within walking distance from the Burton Inn.

We looked forward to the evening wine and cheese fare, since many of the quests, along with the owner, gathered for shared conversation. We felt so much at home, and learned a few things too!

The owners and staff gave the ambience of a family environment, being accessible and suggestive, of things to do in the area.

Our next visit will definitely be at the Burton Inn, but for a longer period of time.

P.S. A friend of ours, to whom we shared our Burton Inn experience said, “I have never heard you so excited about anyplace before, it must have been great. In fact, I am planning a trip to Cambria in the near future, and I want you to remind me of the place you stayed.”
