“Re-used rooms”

Desert Hot Springs Spa Hotel

1 of 5 stars
Chick in Ontario
Nov 20, 2007

My friends and I had been partying all night at one of the local day spas and we needed a place to stay. The Spa Hotel was the closest one, but we only went there after we were told the miracle springs was booked.
The guy at the night desk gave us the wrong key to the room and after trying to find our room in a darkly lit maze of rooms, we were finally able to get into the room.

The room was the most disgusting thing I've ever seen. I can understand the decor would be outdated in a place with a sign like that on the street, but there is NO EXCUSE for checking guests into a room that has not been cleaned.
It's not entirely the night desk guy's fault though. This would have to do with housekeeping. I imagine there must be some unhappy workers at this place. The bedspread was pulled back on both beds, just in the corner. So whoever had slept there before us just pulled back the sheets and that was it. The way they left it was the way we found it. And housekeeping said this room was clean?

It was about 3 in the morning and we were too tired to go back and complain, besides, at a place like that, you can tell that complaining wont do any good. We pulled off all the sheets to make sure there were no bed bugs, but the light in the room was too poor to see anything.
We were only there about 4 hours, no one could really sleep comfortably wondering if we were going to get crabs or bed bugs at this place.

Luckily our cars weren't broken into, but it was very difficult trying to find a place that i felt would be safe to leave them alone for a few hours.

I've managed hotels in the past, and I can tell the manager at this place one thing ... you need to keep your employees happy. The morale with your staff is so low, it shows in their work. And if I can go to the coffee shop in town and hear so much about you without being from around here ... well, that says it all. And I know I will never stay at your place again.

It is unfortunate that this guest had such a bad experience at our hotel. And we are always sensitive to guest comments. The Spa is a Two Diamond property and our goal is to be the best two diamond property in the state! We do wish that this guest had told us at the time that his assigned room had not been cleaned. It would have been easy to give him a cleaned room at the time... but we do appologize for his inconvenience. We don't know why he thought his car would have been stolen. We don't blame him for being angry with us, but we do not believe that his car was in jeopardy of being stolen. We have excellent security and a very low incidence of undesirable activity. Again, we do wish that this guest has expressed his concerns at the time of his visit.. we would have been very willing to make him a happy guest!

We have gone to this hotel for the day many times. It isn't the best, but to get away for the day it was ok. well the last time we were there we notice a couple of you adults ,maybe in their 20's, looked like they were very high on something. The next thing we see is the girl go into a room with some other guy she just met. Then the guy she was with started to go up to all the single guys in the pool area asking if they wanted her to go in their room with them when she was done. We finally realized that they were doing a little buisness there. Well we have never seen that there before and we thought we should let the manger know. They didn't do a thing about it so we figured they are in on it , well that is the last time we will ever go there.

We are surprised at this Guest's reaction, but we thank him for his comments. We do wish that the Guest had made his observations known to us at the time. We do not allow the activities that this guest suggests at our property. Our security people are sensitive to the possibility of untoward behaviors and we watch for it carefully. The help of our guests in observing any such activity or the possibility of it is always welcome. We try to always offer the best customer service... doing more than expected, never less. We would have welcomed the opportunity to do so in this case.

“Nothing great but very peacful and relaxing.”

Desert Hot Springs Spa Hotel

Oct 8, 2007

We spent Friday night to Sunday afternoon. The Hotel is nothing to marvel at, but it has its own charm. It’s older. The mattress need some work. kind of on the hard side! No hair dryer in the room or iron. Irons can be requested from the front desk. The iron I had looked like it was soaked in lime water for 23 years. For the price I paid I was happy. If you want a hotel that has your basic need this will work for you. The rooms are clean. I loved the refrigerator for our Adult Beverages. AC works great! Our room had a patio that over looked to pools and saunas. The Kids Pool was close so if you don’t like the chatting of the little ones stay away! We just relaxed, got facials, swam, and used the hot tubs. One night we stayed in a hot tub until 5am. It was very peaceful. The restaurant is more like a dinner. The food I had was pretty good. The Bar is set up with a few TV’s and has Karaoke. The location is not far from Palm Springs and some night life. I would like If they did a little more to improve… like coffee maker, iron and a few more creature comforts. I will stay again.

“Fancy SPA in dusty surrounding”

Desert Hot Springs Spa Hotel

Aug 5, 2007

Unacquainted travellers might find the place battered but we had a good stay at the Desert Hot Springs Spa Hotel especially while enjoying the vast pool area. This is the main feature anyway and compensates the somehow worn-out rooms. If you can't relax here I doubt that you'll succeed in other place. Enjoy the genuine spring water pools and the nice views over the mountain scenery. It's a popular place and that's right good like that. Pools are open 24 hours a day...

This place was a disgusting, dangerous looking, unsanitary dump. I wan't expecting the Ritz but come on it is not exactly a discount priced place. To top it off a lot of quasi-homeless strung out looking people at the pools all day long - probably attracted by the day use policy (extremely cheap for all day access). Eliminate the weirdos, fix up the rooms and then it might be worth what they are charging! Never again.
