“A very comfortable stay yet again”

Yosemite View Lodge

4 of 5 stars

For a comfortable Yosemite stay you can't beat this hotel. We've stayed here a number of times before and will continue to go back to it. We were in Yosemite at the beginning of August and the temperatures in the valley were over 100 degrees up until late evening. It was a welcome respite to be able to come back to an airconditioned room. As tourists from overseas its also important to be able to leave what we like in rooms re food/ toiletries etc., something that is not possible in many accommodation options within the park itself. That being said the hotel is as close as one can get without actually being in the park as the park entrance is literally a stone's throw away. Its by far the nearest accommodation to the valley that is outside it (and thus cheaper for what you get).

We didn't try the restaurant on this occasion preferring instead to use the buffet facility at Curry village which provides good value for money. The onsite minimarket is a useful facility for those little bits and pieces.

    • Liked — comfortable accommodation so close to Yosemite
    • Disliked — Its too popular!! There were some delays checking in.

“must see trip”

We stayed 2 nights at the Yosemite View Lodge with our 3 years old daughter and were very pleased.
The road to arrive is in the middle of nowhere so it's a good trip :)
Clean and big room, with a nice sauvage-river view balcony and a jacuzzi bathtub :)
There are 3 pools (didn't have time for it though) and a very well furnished shop with all needed to breakfast, lunch, dinner or picnic. Check-in and out is well organized, as the housekeeping.
But don't forget the place is near the entrance of the Yosemite Park and the hotel is huge, so it's like you are in a tourists factory :) The main point BEING to travel through the park, there was no harm !
Nevertheless, there is a $ 3,5 supplement if you want an orange juice on breakfast... strange isn't it ?

“Great stay near Yosemite”

We booked 5 nights at the lodge for our time in Yosemite. I wanted more room for less money than I would pay inside the park. We had a 2-bedroom, 2-bath suite with full kitchen and balcony overlooking the Merced River for $439/night. It was more than enough room for the 5 of us. The drive to the park valley is about 20 minutes (we always left the hotel by 9am so we had no traffic). In my opinion, staying at this place outside the park does not pose any inconvenience for touring the park. The facilities are not posh, but they are adequate. The pool (there are 3) was refreshing. The pizza restaurant was pricey but decent. I did not try the "american" restaurant, but the prices were also high - like everything in and close to Yosemite. I would highly recommend this place for families. I did note that on the last day of our stay, they had a computer problem and there were many angry guests milling about, but luckily this did not affect us.

“Convenient and Friendly”

Stayed here for two nights in July 07. Cheaper than staying in the National Park but very convenient to get to it. Room was good size and comfortable with a pleasant view of the Merced River from the balcony - regularly visited by a family of raccoons at night. Food was adequate - decent buffet breakfast. Nice to have a number of small swimming pools - very refreshing in the evening.

“Fantastic view; loved the Raccoons!”

Yosemite View Lodge

4 of 5 stars
South East England
Aug 18, 2007

This was the only local hotel with availability on our dates, luckily we had a ground floor river view room though we had not read reviews before booking, though these turned out to be all good. We were not disappointed; the mountain & river view was excellent, staff friendly, room clean and large, with a huge spa bath. The restaurant was very good, with especially friendly staff, though it does get busy early, so you may have to wait in the bar. The Merced river was a real tonic and the starry skies quite spectacular. Plenty of wildlife, squirrels and five(!) raccoons on the patio, plus a close call with a bear which was wandering around the car park. Outdoor pools & spa were great for relaxing & sun bathing in late afternoon. Slightly pricey room, but we'd stay here again.

    • Liked — River Merced outside the window, plus large spa bath
    • Disliked — steps down to room from parking lot
