“Great customer service... Great hotel!”
We stayed at this Holday Inn Express Hotel and Suites this past Saturday and were extremely pleased with this hotel.
We were in Fresno for a relative's wedding on Saturday and booked the hotel room for one night that evening. We were a bit concerned since the wedding was at 3pm and check-in was at the same time. We crossed our fingers and arrived at the hotel at 10am hoping the front desk person would take pity on us.
We were greeted as soon as we walked in the automatic doors and we asked if by chance we could check into our room early. The nice young woman pulled up our reservation on her computer and informed us that unfortunately that it wasn't ready since the last guests had just checked out. She then said she would call the maid right away to clean and prepare the room for us and that it would be ready in 30 minutes. Luckily my aunt that was traveling with us had booked a room too and her's was available. We just hung out in her room until the front desk gal gave us a call to say our room was all set.
We were very happy with our suite. It had 2 queen size beds and a large separate sitting area with a sofa sleeper, armoire, dresser, work desk and an office chair. The room was very clean and quiet. I was quite surprised since we were on the ground floor in the corner room that faced the parking lot and side street. All entrances to the rooms are made from inside the hotel corridoors so there wan't any foot trafic around our room. The room was exactly how it was described and it looked just like the photos but only bigger. The only complaint I have is that there wasn't a fan in the bathroom. I hate it when the bathroom gets all steamy when taking a shower. We were only there one night so it wasn't so bad.
I would have to say what made this hotel stand out was the superb customer service we received from all 3 front desk people we met. (2 young women and a young man.) They were all extremely helpful and nice. Another cool thing about this hotel was that it had a popcorn machine just like at the movies. We grabbed a couple of small bags before we left for the wedding and then a couple more when we returned. We were still a bit hungry and wanted another snack so we walked to the McDonald's that was right in front of the hotel. There was several places to eat within walking distance and many more just a short drive on Shaw Avenue.
In the morning, we woke up at 8am and went to see what they had to offer for breakfast. We were invited by some relatives to eat breakfast at their home before we traveled back home so we wanted to snack lightly at the hotel. That was kind of hard to do though since there was so many good things to eat. I had never stayed at a Holiday Inn Express so I figured it would just be a couple pastries, coffee and juice. We were very surprised to see they had a large selection of foods. There was waffles with your choice of syrup or cinnamon apple toppings, biscuits you could top with sausage gravy, a large selection of cereals, bagels, different types of breads to toast, fresh cinnamon rolls that were VERY tasty, Dannon yogurt, apples, bananas, coffee with your choice of flavored creamer, apple juice, orange juice, cranberry juice, milk and water. The breakfast area is kind of small but there was room to sit since several guests opted to take their breakfast back to their rooms.
The next time we happen to visit Fresno, we'll definetly be staying at this hotel. Not only did we feel comfortable and safe, the staff at this hotel were the best. So... if you want a great room at a great price and you want to receive quality customer service that you deserve... book a stay at this fine establihment.
