“Nice Hotel - Great Location”

My husband and I recently visited Huntington Beach, California and were looking for a reasonable priced hotel in a great location. The Best Western hotel on PCH was an excellant choice. The hotel is in a great location right across the street from the beach. Our room had a view of the oil pump and Taco Bell, but the beach view in the background made up for it. The rooms were kept clean although we had to constantly ask for clean towels. After cleaning the rooms the towels were often not replaced. The continental breakfast was nothing to talk about. The hotel serves only the minimum requirements which consisted of coffee, childrens box juices, mini muffins and some danish. There is an IHOP whithin walking distance (about 4 blocks) and our room had a small refrigerator so we visited a nearby grocery store and purchased fruit and juices. We overlooked these minor things because of the great location and the reasonable price of the hotel. Lastly, if you visit Huntington Beach and stay at the Best Western, you must walk down the pier and visit a small diner callede Ruby's. They have excellant burgers and milk shakes. I would recommend this hotel.

This hotel was clean, comfortable and conveniently located. The water pressure was fine, the air conditioner worked well, and the parking was free. In my opinion some of the negative reviews for this hotel are the result of unreasonable expectations. It's a Best Western, people! The Hilton is right down the street (for another $150 a night).

Sure, it's not the least expensive hotel around, but it's right across the street from the beach and an easy stroll to the bars and restautrants on Main Street. No, you don't get panoramic ocean views, but you still get a decent view of the ocean. It's certainly pleasant enough to have a drink on the small balcony area and enjoy the weather and scenery.

And that oil well that seems to have freaked some people out? It was right outside my window and it is completely silent. I found it to be a harmless bit of local color. You see these small oil wells all over the place in this area, stuck in the oddest locations.

Funny not, I read reviews before booking at this hotel. It's way way too expensive for what you get. I should have paid more attention. But the wife's first visit to this ocean, so I gambled the place might be good. I lost! The room was small, toilet was not bolted to floor, showhead was low, meager continental breakfast with no seating to "enjoy" what you are eating. No access to top of roof for viewing. "Partial view" meant you see the northern most view of coastline; that is to say, after first seeing the closeness of the oil well pump station and trash dumpster. Hard to take pics.. very hard to explain the oil well. We had originally booked several nights at this hotel, but cancelled after the first night. I'll never come here again. Nor will I recommend this place. After the first night, we had to get out. I found another Best Western hotel 1 1/2 miles up the road. Saved 50% per night. We stayed in other West Western hotel in La Jolla, that also was a mistake. I'll write a review on that one. West Western hotel chain touts the worlds largest. Well, that outfit needs a close look to whats going on.

This motel is right across the street(PCH) from Huntington Beach. It is a nice motel, and it is very clean. Only a couple of negatives- there is no pool, and the hot tub was out of order during our stay, and the front desk clerk had the attitude that it was my fault that he is a front desk clerk. Now don't get me wrong, I have nothing against front desk clerks, but I do know that if you choose this profession, you should plan on being courteous to strangers, especially when your motel is charging $125-$145 a night without a pool. But in the long run, I usually only see the desk clerk during check in and check out, so who cares what attitude he has when it is 70 degrees outside and the waves are pounding 100 yards from my room. One afterthought though, I had a room with 2 queen beds. The "balcony" was about 1 foot wide by 3 feet long. The rooms that had 1 king bed had a balcony that held 2 patio chairs with a great angle view of the ocean. This motel is 3 stories tall, and you will want a room on the 3rd floor as far west if possible to maximize the view. The Pacific Coast Highway was right outside the window, but the traffic noise didn't really bug me though.
