I went in Oct to see the yachts, I met with Kim and she was very helpful letting me go on board the 2 I was interested in. I then bought a gift certificate for my son and his wife for Christmas. They chose a nite in June, but seems it was a bad weekend for traffic, etc, Proms, and no parking. They enjoyed it and no complaints other than the parking issue. It does seem that since there are 4 yachts they would have at least 4 parking spots just for their guests. Perhaps that is something they can work on.

“Very Creative Yacht Hotel!”

Long Beach, CA: Dockside Boat and Bed 'Hotel' - Fantastic!

Our Most Unique Hotel Ever - A 48' Yacht in Long Beach, CA!

My wife and I enjoyed spending the night on a well-appointed 48' yacht moored within walking distance of fun places to see and eat in Long Beach, California.

Our yacht, called "Perfect Landing' couldn't express itself better. It was romantic, very comfortable and docked with a breath-taking view of The Queen Mary all lit-up at night in the distance.

'Perfect Landing' has a nice open and airy feeling with a generous owners’ stateroom with full bath, a nice family room with TV, DVD-player, a selection of movies, couch and comfortable chairs. It also had a cute kitchen with refrigerator and microwave with all the amenities, coffee maker with coffee, a table and eating area with seating for six. There is also a wet bar with ice maker.

In addition there is a second sizable stateroom with another full bath and an enclosed flybridge and aft deck. Both seating areas allow you to enjoy the gentle ocean breezes and all of the sights of the very private harbor area.

In the morning we benefited from a nice B+B tradition; there was a breakfast basket outside our yacht’s door with plenty to eat and drink.

Dockside Boat and Bed was a very unique pleasure and the people running it couldn’t have been nicer!

“Wonderful, Special Experience”

Dockside Boat and Bed

5 of 5 stars
Palos Verdes CA

We stayed at Dockside Boat and Bed for my husband's birthday last weekend. It was special, romantic and the views were breathtaking. We thought we needed just one night away but after sinking into this incredibly relaxing environment, we really wished we had two nights. Our boat Perfect Landing is loved and clearly cared for.

There is a very soft rocking of the boat when a boat passes in the harbor...but nothing that could ever cause anyone to worry about sea sickness (I had a few friends ask that after we went). Our yacht had two bedrooms, two baths and plenty of room for 4 people to comfortably share.

The BB has it's own private pier with a bbq grill and small round tables.

We checked in, walked to a local restaurant for a snack and then headed to Gondola Getway, Long Beach for a gondola ride around Naples Island. I found the Gondola Getaway on TA and thought it would be campy and fun. It was actually very special. It's a quiet trip through the canals with the occasional paddler on a surfboard smiling and swoshing by. I had read that the gondoliers sang, maybe that's what made the experience sound like it would be campy...but it was the opposite. The gondoliers are young, 20 something guys that appear that they're in college and have it together. Then you stop under a bridge and they sing quietly in Italian...it honestly took our breath away. What a special event.

We headed back to 'our boat' and never left until the next afternoon. We ate dinner (and breakfast the next day) on the aft deck. As the sun set the Light House came alive with different colors and the Queen Mary lights up, then about 9:30 an amazing fireworks show began over the ocean...we don't no what the event was for, so I claimed it was arranged for my husband's birthday.

Breakfast was delivered in the morning...juice, fruit, delicious pastries, bagel, cream cheese and yogurt. It was light, easy and thoughtful.

The group running Dockside could not have been more friendly, helpful or accomodating.

Could not have been more special...we will definitly return...for two nights!!

“Very cool and different”

Stayed the night on the yacht the “Perfect Landing” it was a total blast. We arrived early and the friendlily staff were there to greet us and show us around our yacht.

The location in Long Beach Harbor is perfect and you can walk to everything. It was so much fun sitting on the back deck of the boat having cocktails and watching the other boats and seabirds. When it gets dark the colors of the lights in the harbor are unbelievable. I wish I could have stayed longer.

Try a little adventure it will be well worth the effort

“Fun and different!”

We stayed in a 40' yacht (The Saoirse). It had 2 bedrooms (one with queen bed and one very small room with bunk beds that would be suitable for small children) and one bathroom. The location was beautiful - we had an absolutely amazing view of the Queen Mary and the Lighthouse. So many great restaurants and bars - not to mention the aquarium - are within walking distance. We stocked up on wine, cheese and snacks for the refrigerator. The breakfast was perfect for two people - but got there a little late if you were planning an early morning. I would suggest letting the innkeepers know if you need an earlier breakfast and they will probably provide you a basket the night before. The one caution I would have for anyone who has never spent the night on a boat. It's a boat. So don't expect the bathrooms to have your normal creature comforts. The shower had very little pressure and was difficult to adjust the temperature (think - campground type shower without the pressure) and the toilet didn't flush very well and tended to smell up the whole boat when flushed. Again - to be expected in a bathroom on a small boat - just be prepared! We would consider staying here again on a larger boat.
