“worth the stay”

Marriott Los Angeles Downtown

4 of 5 stars
Essex, UK
Jul 20, 2007

excellent service, rooms big enough and very clean, some noise from freeway, although we preferred this view and spent 8 nights overlooking it, so def no problem. pool ok, but tending to the shadey, so not muchgood after 5pm.

weekends cheaper by a long way and included breakfast buffet which was awesome ( if free) but could be beaten for value in a million LA restaurants if not!

valet parking excellent service and well worth it here, with the valets very knowledgeable about routes and distances to attractions/malls etc.

Not too far from anywhere....theme parks (incl 6flags), hollywood, restaurants as its straight onto Wilshire blvd and also the i5. Go to the Ivy from here, superb night out. watch the traffic on the 5 and 110,101 esp in rush hour and tak an alt route thru the boulevards and save hours!

“NICE & CLEAN”

Rooms are clean, and staff is polite. Beds are very very comfortable. Lobby is inviting for lounging and having a drink. As of 07 the whole hotel is non smoking. Hotel is centrally located in downtown, and accessible to all major freeways. Although mostly labeled as business hotel, it’s also good for vacationers. The hotel is close to little Tokyo, which has some great cuisine. Try Sushi Ghen & Shabu Shabu. Jump on the freeway, and Dodger stadium, Pasadena, Hollywood, Santa Monica are close. Yes downtown is desolate at night, so do not go walking. However during the daytime it’s ok. For the more curious, walk through the historic core on Broadway Blvd. This is the historic theater row district. Also try Spring Street, the historic financial district. If your stay is strictly business, you will find the hotel meets all you needs. Parking is valet only, $16.5 per day.

Great place to stay, even for a local. Attended a two-day seminar – so I got to see quite a lot of this hotel. Great service, excellent amenities, terrific location, fantastic room. Even the food from the little patio place was very nice – especially given that it was from a hotel. The breakfast buffet is a great deal! And I absolutely fell in love with the onion soup – not many places make a great onion soup. Cool lobby painting too! I highly recommend this hotel for business stay-overs. Felt very safe there too.

“Wonderful!”

My husband and I stayed here from June 1, 2006 to June 3, 2006. The hotel was very easy to get to from LAX airport. Although we were told that the Metro not far from the hotel takes you into Hollywood and all the sites there, we did not take it. We drove from our hotel to Hollywood Blvd to see all the touristy sites. It was only a 10 minute drive and very easy! The hotel and downtown/finacial area was like a ghost town on the weekend. There is a movie theatre right next to the hotel which was very convienient! Also, the hotel recommended many restaurants all within walking distance from the hotel to eat dinner at. (between 2-5 blocks) We ate at the restaurant Engine something or another. It was fantastic! Definitely recommend the meatloaf dinner! Casual setting. The hotel had a nice pool outside, great breakfast buffett ($19.99 per person) and a great bar night life! The room was clean and large! We paid $143 a night on the weekend and thought it was very reasonable in comparison to other hotels in the area. The bathroom was really impressive and nice for a Marriott! We really enjoyed our stay here!

“Loved it for one night stay”

I stayed here for one night before beginning a tour. It was an absolute joy. Desk staff were more than helpful with suggesting dining and shopping options, the store in the foyer was well stocked, restraurants looked busy and the hotel felt classy and homey. I had a room on the 9th floor that looked over the freeway, pool and city, and found that was quite pleasant to look at surprisingly. The room had floor to ceiling windows, a very comfortable king bed, fantastic bathroom and fluffly robes. I stayed in watching TV in bed and fell asleep very comfortable and happy.

Check out was easy, quick and friendly - would stay there again on return to LA very happily.
