We stayed at Elan modern for two nights on our way back from Mexico. We wanted a hotel close to the Farmer's Market and Grove shopping mall as we intened to use our time in LA to shop.
We got a flat rate $45 cab from the airport to the hotel. The hotel is a small 2 storey building on Beverly Boulevard just across from the Beverly Centre shopping mall which has shops such as MMacy's and Bloomingdales.
As it's name suggests, the hotel is very modern in style. Our room was smaller than most American hotel rooms, but clean and well looked after. We had a small double bed, a desk, tv, radio clock, wardrobe, individually controlled airconditioning and a bathroom with a coffee maker, robe and wonderful complimentary toiletries.
Compelementary continental style breakfast is provided in the lounge as is a wine reception every evening.
The hotel does not have a restaurant but is within walking distance of many restaurants. We found the area safe to walk, even at night.
The Farmer's Market and Grove shopping mall is a 20 minute gentle walk from the hotel.
The hotel staff were extremely helpful in arranging cabs and onward travel and also with recommendations for sightseeing.
I would recommend this hotel as a great alternative to the usual faceless chain hotels.
