Comfort Inn Sunset Boulevard Los Angeles

Stayed here 6 nights November 12 to November 20 and would recommend it. Previous reviews have said the neighbourhood is unsafe and I wouldn’t disagree with that, the area is a bit seedy but I went across the road to the small strip mall to do my laundry and didn’t feel unsafe. A little further west on Sunset Boulevard there is a trendy area called Silver Lake which has lots of nice restaurants and cafes. As with anywhere in Los Angeles you really do need a car and the hotel does have an underground parking area which unlike some other motels I have stayed at in Los Angeles had nice wide spaces, although it is advertised as secure parking the gate at the entrance was never closed from what I saw. The hotels address is West Sunset Boulevard, but it is located at the very eastern end of Sunset Boulevard close to downtown Los Angeles and staying here like practically anywhere in Los Angeles a car is required and the traffic is bad all the time so a short journey anywhere can take a long time. The hotel itself is really nice for the price, one of the cheaper hotel I found online. I stayed in room 303 and it was a pleasant surprise, really large room, laid out on an unusual way as it was a corner room, king size bed, fridge, microwave, coffee maker, air conditioning, large TV with about 70 stations, free wireless internet that worked really well. I had a smoking room and while I don’t smoke I didn’t find any offensive odours in the room. One of the previous reviews said that there was no door between the bathroom and bedroom and mine did and also had a large dressing area. The room was cleaned spotlessly every day and restocked with anything I had used. No real view to speak of from my room just buildings in the distance over the roof of the small apartment building next door. Like a lot of the US chain motels they do have a continental breakfast in the lobby, pretty standard stuff, cereal, toast, pastries, coffee plus they have a couple of waffle machines which seemed very popular. They only have seating for about 12 people but I was there early and they serve breakfast form 6.30 to 9.30, but I could imagine it getting crowded later in the morning. I paid US77 per night plus taxes and think for the price it was a good deal. A couple of things that could be improved they have a key card system for the room door and each day that has to be recoded which they say is for security but it is a bit of a nuisance and the code for the free internet also has to have a new password each day plus they have a street level parking area at the lobby level that serves the hotel plus a couple of stores that occupy the street level which was closed for my entire stay which made the only parking the underground lot which I always found a spot in it but a couple of nights it was the last spot. Overall a great place to stay for the money will be my first choice next time I am in Los Angeles.

I booked a five night stay at the Comfort Inn on W. Sunset Blvd and I was overall very pleased with the accommodation. All the bedrooms are large, very clean and quite modern in appearance. The beds are ultra comfortable - large and I would say quite new - the TV works unlike in some hotels and has many channels if you can't be without your TV. Breakfast is OK - very standard and very American - waffle making machine, bagels, pastries, fruit, cereal, etc...
Having a car in LA is essential as the public transport is very poor. The hotel is situated on a busy main road. The area is very safe. Car parking for guests at the hotel is free and there is plenty of parking available. The hotel location is very central if you have a car otherwise not so good.
After reading all these reviews before I left I was quite unsure whether I wanted to stay here but I can honestly say it was absolutely fine and met all my standards and requirements. Back again.... second time staying at this place in 3 months- although this time not on business so for a little longer.
Stopped in LA for while on a well earned vacation taking in a road trip... this was my first choice of place to stay in LA, knowing the city a little better by now.

Pretty much the same as my earlier review in mid- september- cheaper than anywhere else I could find except for all but the sleaziest 1* places in dubious locations (inglewood? I wouldn't...) and again, no complaints. People compaining about the location need to remember that the majority of Los Angeles is sleazy.....!

Location is honestly nothing to worry about if you have a car ( and you NEED a car ).... Close to the 101 f/way, couple of mins drive to hollywood, easy to get downtown..beverly hills not too far...
If you don't have a car, then perhaps look elsewhere...

Internet worked flawlessly again (ask for code every day at reception) and is fast, the place is v clean, plenty of room, free secure under the building parking, and its quiet.

Once again, with the hiltons et al all pricing up at well over three to four times the price, you have to question why..

Pretty good value for the money. This hotel is located only two blocks from the Chinese Theater and major Hollywood attractions. Parking is free which is a huge advantage. Free continental breakfast is nothing special. The rooms are reasonably sized and recently renovated with plasma TV's, fresh paint, and rather comfortable beds. We stayed one night, but highly recommended for people partying in the downtown Hollywood area.

Only negative, cable didn't work properly and making the channels unwatchable. Also, you could hear the traffic (including alarms) and other guests at all hours of the nice. Basically expected for a Hollywood motel.
