“Noisy and smelly, other than that - OK”

Tired and not really clean hotel.
Rooms looking up to the Highland are REALLY noisy, I changed the room for the pool-looking one after the first night.
Smells from the kitchen are permiating all hallways and getting inside rooms as well (at least on the First, Fourth and Sixth Floors).
Sound insulation overall is lousy - TV's and mobile phones from the adjoining rooms are heard.
Staff is polite and helpful.

Pretty good hotel. Rooms are average. Location is great if you have a car and want to go to Beverly Hills, Universal Studios and Hollywood. I would recommend everyone in signing up to be a Priority Club member because you get a complimentary drink (beer/wine), newspaper, 2 large bottles of aquafina water and discounted parking ($12 instead of $20). Pretty good deal considering Priority Club is FREE.

“Excellent Location and Nice Hotel”

This hotel was very good and I was pleasantly suprised.

The room was spacious, clean and had all the necessities. It also was only a short walk to everything in Hollywood and to the redline train. The front desk was friendly and the desk staff even signed us up for the holiday inn frequent traveller plan which allowed us to get free water, late check out and a free drink at their bar.

I only wish they would have told us about the list they have of places that you can access with bus or train and the details on how to get to each place. (Ask for it if you are staying there without a car!) It was a great find - unfortunately, we didn't find it until we were leaving.

I stayed her for six nights in October and felt I got value for money.
I arrived late at night and was unsure if there would be anyone at the desk when I arrived. The night porters were there and checked me in quickly and easily no fuss which was great.
The purpose of my visit was to see Genesis at the Hollywood Bowl. The hotel was literally a 5 min walk from the Bowl and also the Walk of fame so location wise it scored 10 out of 10 for me. The hotel overlooks a busy street but I had a room at the back that overlooked the pool. So I was never disturbed by noise even with the window open.
My room was large with a large bathroom. It was very clean and spacious. The hotel was clean and staff friendly. Complimentary water was left each day, as was a newspaper. Facilities included a pool and spa ( both very clean) and a small gym.
I had read some rather unsavoury reviews on this site and must admit I wasn't sure what to expect but I was very pleasantly surprised. The staff were eager to help and assisted on many occasions with directions and the like. Lots of maps and bus timetables pre printed at the front desk for visitors, which I found very helpful the shuttle bus to Universal came in handy too. Also they locked away passports and valuables at the desk for us.
A note about the area:
There are a few bums near the church on the corner and I had read this in the reviews and it worried me. They are there everyday but were no problem at all. They don't beg they’re just there- although I can see that if you’re on your own its a little unnerving. Unfortunately it’s a city and you see a lot of this. Don't let it put you off your stay though - the pricey Renaissance Hotel is on the same corner as the bums thus proving it doesn't matter how much you shell out for a hotel they will still be there!
Overall I had a great stay and would recommend this hotel.

“No complaints from me”

I haven't been to Hollywood since the late 70's, so when I took my 16yo daughter there I was pleasently surprised.

We took the city shuttle bus from LAX to Union Station and then the subway to Hollywood/Highland. Holiday Inn is a short walk up Highland. This cost about $10 total and it took about 45 minutes from the airport.

The location was perfect for our trip - very close to Hollywood Blvd and its attractions yet quite quiet>They have a secluded pool/jacuzzi, small pub and resturant. There is a small mall across the street - Starbucks, Subway, grocery and pizza.

The staff is friendly and helpful - They suggested a city tour .It was a small van and we were the only 2- it was personable and a lot of fun. Cost for 3 hour _ $90.- Beverly Hills,Melrose, Rodeo, etc

They have a free van to Universal Studios - It is very near 10-15 minutes.

We took public transit everywhere else even the beach. Walk about 10 minutes south to Santa Monica Blvd and you can catch the bus to Santa Monica and Venice Beach.

We also took the bus called Fairfax on Hollywood Blvd to Melrose and shopped at all the clothing boutiques. This is a short trip and a shoppers paradise.

We enjoyed our stay at the Holiday Inn and recommend it.
