“Older hotel but still comfortable”

Metro Plaza Hotel

May 17, 2008

The hotel is easy to find (with a GPS) but the unloading luggage or parking is a little challenging given the minimal space in front of the hotel. Parking is $4 which is a garage on the 1st floor where you enter through the "EXIT" sign.

The front desk staff is nice, but communicating may be a little difficult. I tried many times to ask for the code for the free internet wi-fi but finally had to obtain the printed code in order to understand the specific letters to enter. Check-in and check-out was quick.

The room was large (I had a corner room which seemed larger than the others on the hotel layout). There was a desk and a dining table with 4 chairs. The bathroom had a jacuzzi tub. The ice machine was on the same floor down the hallway.

The surrounding area was not great, but close enough to good Chinese restaurants within walking distance.

The included continental breakfast was basic, but decent.

I stayed in this hotel for an interview the next day. I would recommend this hotel for budget minded travelers and business.

“Worn and Ragged...Barely Worth 2 Stars”

Metro Plaza Hotel

Since most reviews here said the place was Ok, we decided to book this place for our last night in LA. Well, this hotel is definitely not a lovely place. The lobby is probably the most updated. Our room was VERY worn, the wallpaper had stains on it, the bed was potato chip thin and the nail polish stained dresser looked gross. We felt very itchy all night long and couldn't wait to check out the next day.

It is right near the train station..that is true. But the neighborhood leaves alot to be desired too. If you are looking for a place near the train, you might want to take the rail to union station and then take the metro (red line) to hollywood. Much nicer hotels there!

If you don't care what your hotel looks like or where you stay. But if you like to sleep calmly and feel at least a little comfy on your vacation - then spend a bit more and go somewhere else.
