“Great Location, Great Value”

Residence Inn Beverly Hills

4 of 5 stars
El Cerrito, California
Nov 26, 2007

Stayed at this location over Thanksgiving.

The room: Comfortable bed, flat screen tv and spacious.

Amenities: Free breakfast daily with a large selection.
M-F they have appetizers and happy hour for free.
Parking is $20 dollars daily and there isn't anywhere close to maybe park and just walk to the hotel. They do allow in and out privileges
No pool, but a nice sized whirlpool.
The gym (although small) had a lot of nice equipment in it.

Location: Close to a lot of major attractions. If you go further down Beverly there are lots of shops and food places Pinkberry, Chiptle etc.
Not far from Sunset, La Brea, Melrose, Hollywood blvd etc. Even closer to Rodeo Dr. Century City mall is right down Pico.
Grocery store (Ralphs) is right off Pico if you're looking to take full advantage of the kitchen.

Very good location for the money. Great value, especially if traveling as a family.

“Great Central Location”

Not a fancy Beverly Hills hotel by any means, but it's clean, comfortable and at a great intersection of Pico and Beverly, 20 mins walk to Rodeo Drive, and half hour to Santa Monica (barring traffic). Near the freeway, but far enough that you can easily use local roads and avoid freeway traffic.

Free breakfast gets packed quickly, and LOTS of families stay here. The room is small, but the living area comes in handy when you/your luggage want to spread out.

Courtyard style setting, so not a lot of light in your room, and with 7 floors, you will wait for the elevator.

At ~$200/night, with $20/day parking, it's "reasonable" for the zip code you are in!

“Great Value, Great Service”

We arrived around Midnight, and were questioning the surrounding neighborhood, but it ended up being okay in the long run.

This is not a FANCY hotel, but it more than met our needs. The suite was very adequate in size for our family of four, and was very efficiently arranged. There was a full kitchen (and this is their base room), which included complimentary coffee and microwave popcorn. The bathroom area was slightly small, but we didn't spend much time in there anyway!

The complimentary breakfast was tasty, but very crowded, and they were constantly trying to keep up with the demand for food and seating. On Sunday AM, we ended eating in the lobby, because the breakfast area was full, and even seating in the lobby was limited.

One thing I really liked was that there was a manager out in the reception and lobby area 24 hours a day, and any issues were promptly dealt with in a very courteous manner.

I also liked their directions service, where you can ask the desk attendant how to get to a specific spot, and they printed the directions out from a computer system they had behind the desk. The directions included both how to get to the destination and how to get back. It made getting around LA just a little easier than trying to navigate with a large paper map of the entire city.

If you are expecting a five-star hotel, this probably wouldn't be your first choice, but it more than meets the needs of any business traveler, or a family on a get-away.

“Almost Perfect Mid-Range Hotel”

Residence Inn Beverly Hills

I stayed here for two nights while I attended a weekend exercise retreat. The hotel had been recommended by the retreat organizers and shuttle service back and forth to the gym was included.

Among the many good features of the hotel:

Complimentary hot breakfast buffet - better than average. For example, both scrambled and hard-boiled eggs, and two different kinds of yoghurt, in addition to the usual waffles, muffins, bagels, oatmeal and etc. The breakfast buffet was open for a three-hour window, so you didn't have to set your alarm so you wouldn't miss breakfast. The two mornings I was there they did not run out of anything. Tables were cleared promptly.

The rooms had miniature kitchens with everything most people need to cook, including a full-sized refrigerator, microwave, small stove, toaster, and a dishwasher!

Though I didn't use it, they offer to do your grocery shopping for you, and there is a complimentary social hour on most weeknights. Nice tv with good reception. I did not try the internet access but some people in our group used it with no problem. They also allow little frou-frou dogs with a deposit.

I was in Room 102 and although the room layout was a little awkward and I had a nice view of the bus stop across the street I was not bothered by street noise.

Note: the hotel is approximately a mile from the Wilshire end of Rodeo Drive. It is an easy walk if you don't have a lot of packages.

What made it less than perfect for me: The parking situation. I have an older car. When I pulled into the parking entrance the valet looked at me, looked at my battered Toyota, and asked something like "Are you sure you are registered in this hotel?" I assured him I was, and let him park my car. This hurt my feelings , though, and I mentioned it to someone connected with the parking concession and wasn't going to mention it further until I picked up my car on Sunday and there were dirty water spots on the front and side windows. When I pay $20 a day to park my car I would at least expect to get it back in the same or better condition as when I left it! Fortunately I keep window cleaner and a towel in the car so I was able to clean the glass before I had to get on the freeway home. Next time I will park the car next to a sprinkler somewhere myself.

By the way, if you are comparing hotels in the area, make sure they are quoting a figure that includes the occupancy tax.

Overall, I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to stay near Beverly Hills.
