My wife and I spent our 5 year anniversary in Palm Springs for the night (Couldn't get away for longer) and I found this hotel on tripadvisor.com as well as palmsprings.com. It got good reviews and was relatively affordable ($149 for classic room). They did not require a minium stay for the weekend. I will organize my review by subjects, but just wanted to say that overall, the hotel was about average. But what made me like it was the unique "Happy Hour" and ambiance of a small boutique hotel.
Location: It was located a good 6 blocks from downtown Palm Springs. People told us that it would be loud because the hotel was next to a large street (Indian Canyon Dr.). I did not appreciate any noise but they were doing construction to the street outside the hotel.
Checkin: Since the hotel is small, the receptionist also does other duties around the hotel. So it took her a couple of minutes to realize that we were checking in. Other than that, check in was a breeze. They told us that they couldn't offer us a free upgrade because they were completely sold out. After checking us in, she gave us a nice short tour and explained everything.
Room: We had a classic room and it was just that, small and simple. If if wasn't for the decor, it reminded me of a motel 6 type of room. It was tastefully decorated with "modern" furniture. The carpet we really didn't care for. It was a modern-hard-rippled-straw-type of carpet. The TV was only about a 20inc. But it did have a nice DVD/DIVX player. There was a fridge with 2 sodas and 2 bottles of water. There was a martini shaker as well as glassware for 2. The bed was just average, but it did have a nice down comforter with soft pillows. The bathroom only had a shower stall (nice water pressuer) and the toilet was stuck behind the door (kind of cramp).
Service: This is where I thought the hotel shined and was unique. First, the pool and jacuzzi were opened 24hrs. There is a bar/kitchen area in the middle of the hotel. There, you could serve yourself coffee/tea 24hrs a day. At 5:30-6:30pm, there is a happy hour where they off (FREE of CHARGE) white/red wine and a great Sake base Martini (I drank 4 glasses). They also set out Chex mix to munch on. Lots of the guess would come out and mingle. People were encouraged to bring their own "beverage" and share. The staff also set out liquor (vodka, Whiskey, and Rum) that previous guest would leave. This was all free. For continental breakfast, they set aside a nice spread of bagels, muffins, yogurt, fruit, and cereal. The host would try to remember your name and call you by it.
Extra: I like that there was free parking. Check out is at 12pm. 2 robes for your use in each room.
All in all, this was a nice boutique hotel for its price. I did not get a chance to see the other rooms. However, if you are looking for a quiet place to spend the weekend, I would suggest this hotel.
