“Great Stay”

Palm Canyon Resort & Spa

May 9, 2008

My 12 year old daughter and mom stayed in a very comfortable 2 bedroom suite and loved it. The resort is located in a great area and offered many excursions that were quite affordable. Next time we stay there we will take advantage of the Rosarito, Mexico day trip which includes brunch at the Rosarito Inn (Hotel). It is a day trip for only $80 pp, WOW! My daughter loved the water slide and my elderly mom loved the poolside misters to keep her cool while she crocheted. I enjoyed the very affordable poolside bar/restaurant. We ordered room service quite a few times and were very pleased with the quality, timeliness and service. When we contacted maintenance for some minor adjustments to our room they were very quick to response and take care of everything with a smile.

We had a noise issue with the people above us and the front desk personnel switched our room immediately, with a smile and good attitude. Overall, the staff at the resort were very helpful and kind.

This hotel is the type of vacation a family would enjoy. It is a smaller resort which makes it very easy to relax and enjoy with your family. Children are kept happy with the waterslide/pool volleyball, food and activites. A husband kept happy with nearby golf. Mom is happy with nearby shopping, a spa, room service, relaxing by the pool while watching the family play and have fun. We did not want to leave and will stay there again.

“Very clean. Nice and roomy place.”

Palm Canyon Resort & Spa

4 of 5 stars
Cypress, CA
May 6, 2008

I reserved a two bedroom and a one bedroom because the three bedroom wasn't available on such a short notice. I had a great time. The rooms were very clean with a nice balcony. The beds were very comfortable and all the rooms were roomy. The master was huge with a vanity and sink in it. The kitchen was a full kitchen. Looks like the rooms were remodeled not too long ago. Also, the carpet and bathrooms were clean which are very important to me. While staying there, I saw them cleaning the cement around the pool so upkeep seems very important to them. Because of the in-room kitchen, you may want to take air fresheners with you because one of our rooms smelled like steak. Also, the front desk people were very nice and the front desk and lobby area was really nice and clean. There's also a gym, basketball court and spa on the property. I'm not sure if it's available to everyone though.

“Timeshare trade terrible!”

Palm Canyon Resort & Spa

2 of 5 stars
Hartford, Connecticut
Apr 23, 2008

As an owner of an Interval timeshare, I traded my one bedroom unit for this. When I checked in, we were assigned a Junior Suite. The room was small, had a queen bed, a small kitchenette and a stained green couch in the same small room. The bathroom was almost bigger! The outside patio was bigger than the entire suite and bathroom combined!

When the couch was opened to sleep, there was little to no room to walk around the unit. The first thing that came to mind, was how anyone would escape this unit in the middle of the night with no room to walk, suitcases spread out, etc. It was definitely beneath any fire code safety standards, as you could not walk between the kitchen and couch unless you slide through sideways. Unacceptable and totally unsafe. Little did we know then that there would be a fire alarm that went off later in the week.

As timeshare trades go, I was suppose to get a unit the same size or greater. When I spoke to the desk, they said there was nothing that could be done. When I asked to speak to the manager, she said she could upgrade me, but would have to charge me and blamed the unit I received on the Interval time-share people.

On one day, the maid came in and cleaned the unit. They left, leaving the deck slider door wide open for anyone or thing to enter our unit!

I was very, very disappointed at the attitude of the management and their refusal to help me correct the situation.

Lastly, the concierge helped me arrange a day of golf, but failed to tell us that we could not pay by credit card and had to pre-pay with them at the hotel, in cash only.

The pool area was way over-crowded with children screaming and running and not a chair to be found if you did not go out at 9 a.m. and stay there all day. However, I believe it was school vacation week.

If you are trading a unit, from your timeshare to this, double and triple check what you are getting. This Junior suite was like a postage stamp in comparison to the one-bedrooms I did see when the maids were cleaning them. In addition, no air conditioning in the bathroom, poor lighting in the entire unit and out-dated stained decorations and furnishings.

The air conditioning unit had a "funky" smell and on the next to the last day, the fire alarm went off at 8 a.m. They told us nothing to worry about, but the Engineering staff of the hotel were overheard discussing the puzzling smell in one building.

“Great for kids! We had fun too.”

Palm Canyon Resort & Spa

Apr 15, 2008

We spent 2 nights here in March. We had a great time. The kids pool was perfect for our 3 year old, as was the kids water slide. We arrived a little early, at 3, and had no problems checking in early.
It was great to have the kitchenette. The only drawback was that the pool was a little crowded, but it was spring break.

“Good value”

Palm Canyon Resort & Spa

4 of 5 stars
Walnut, CA
Apr 9, 2008

We had a junior villa, a word of advice, not roomy enough for 4 people even though the resort claims it is. It would be perfect for 2 people though. However, the room was very clean, had a sofa bed, kitchenette well stocked, & jacuzzi tub in the bathroom. Great pool area for kids with a large and small water slide, the pool bar makes great smoothies, you can buy alcoholic beverages as well. The food is good and moderately priced. I did see that the hallways need some painting/carpet repairs, but nothing major. All the staff was polite and helpful. It was crowded but that's to be expected during spring break. I would definately stay here again but next time I will book a one or two bedroom villa.
