Booked this hotel based onthe good reviews here and was very pleased. New hotel, clean and spacious room. Pleasant staff. Convenient to the freeway and downtown Santa Cruz. Nice indoor pool. Good breakfast included. And above all, a reasonable price.

After a long day of touring the UCSC campus, we were very happy to find clean, comfortable rooms waiting for us at the Hampton. I chose the property based on Trip Advisor feedback here and will say that the Hampton deserves the glowing reviews.

We had one room for the kids and one for us and both were very large and well appointed (1 w/ 2 doubles and 1 king). The beds and comforters were great and their selection of firm and soft pillows fit everyone nicely. Really appreciated their range of toiletries too, given the TSA restrictions on liquids. When I made the reservations they said that they would put us in rooms next to each other and they were good to their word.

Along with the comfort level, I would also recommend the Hampton for their people and dedication to customer satisfaction. We were pretty tired, and had brought leftover pizza with us from campus which we were going to have for dinner. The front desk clerk happily reheated our food and gave us all the paper and plastic products we needed. They also have complimentary magazines and newspapers, and as mentioned in previous reviews, a pretty good breakfast buffet.

As far as Santa Cruz is concerned, Hampton is the place to stay.

When we first drove up, I got a little worried, seeing that the hotel was at a busy intersection where a freeway ends. I thought the noise would be awful inside, but it was surprisingly quiet in our room. The desk clerks over the course of our stay were pleasant & helpful. There is an attractive atrium court where you can pick up breakfast . Our room was spotless, the bed, pure luxury (see a picture of my husband Daniel luxuriating in its downy softness!) The only complaint I have really isn't necessarily the hotel's fault, but it's the proliferation of these "button press" toilets that seem to be abounding in the Bay area presently. If you haven't experienced one, you're not missing anything! I had to use my entire palm in order to push down hard enough to make it flush. Then when it does flush, the resulting "whoosh" is so loud, it startled Daniel in the next room out of a deep sleep!
My husband & I spent 4 nights here & would definitely return. A+

Having spent a night at the excellent Hampton Inn in Camarillo, I thought we might be pushing our luck to have a similar experience in Santa Cruz. However the standard remained just as high and i can only support the other positive reviews.
The beds are just brilliant and the room was spotlessly clean. The staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast was excellent with a good choice of hot and cold alternatives.
The only downside was Santa Cruz itself, the downtown area was ok, but the boardwalk area reminded me of Blackpool with sunshine, though that probably has more to do with my age and the fact that we were there on a Saturday night!!
