I had reservations for 7:30 last Friday but decided to show up early as we were hungry at 6:30 and tired of walking around. The host, I think the owner as well, said it wasn't a problem and sat us at a very nice table. The restaurant was very nice in a relaxed atmosphere. My wife and I ordered one caesar salad to share. Our entrees were grilled shrimp, and lamb shank. The caesar salad was very tasty with a tomao parmesan dressing of some sort, but very, very good. The grilled shrimp were large plump shrimp cooked perfectly. I don't recall the seasoning used but it didn't overpower the sweetness of the shrimp. The lambshank was served with a dark sauce which was very tasty but just not enough of it. The lambshank itself was a little on the dry side and once the sauce was gone it lost some pizzazz. A local bottle of wine was ordered which wasn't marked up excessively. For dessert, we shared a honey creme brulee which was different in a good way. Our server, Cynthia was very attentive and did a very good job. I would recommend this restaurant mainly for the relaxed setting, the service and the food. Larry, So Cal

I really enjoyed this restuarant. My husband and I ate there after recommendations from a winery. The lobster pot pie was comfort food, yet still new and interesting. The scallops and butternut risotto was delicious. My husband and I would have appreciated one extra vegetarian option though.
The old victorian home/restaurant had wonderful romantic lighting and decor! I will return again soon! Also, our 2 glasses of wine, dinner (no desert) fit well into our budget. (75$ including tip).

“A truly charming experience”

Just an outstanding evening in every way!

We were visiting Sonoma, staying at Macarthur Place - which, by the way, was just wonderful! After eating at their steakhouse the first night, the staff suggested we try Deuce - just down the street and just off Sonoma Plaza. We were charmed by the lovely old house and the shaded, quiet outdoor patio.

Every course was truly outstanding - fresh ingredients that were perfectly prepared. The wine list was the most interesting I've seen in Sonoma. There had to 15 wines by the glass and about 200 bottle selections from all over California and elsewhere, including many from small wineries that we never have the chance to sample back home.

The service was warm, friendly and very knowledgeable. And the owner, Peter, who was working that night, was just wonderful. All in all, it was a perfect evening and exactly what eating in Sonoma should be all about. WOW!

“No apology for burnt entree”

Arrived at Deuce Restaurant at reserved time on Valentine's, ordered, had a great house salad, a great calamari, a great bottle of wine, then came a completely BURNT Veal Osso Bucco, crispy and charred, and covered with a dark wine sauce, totally inedible. After two bites, my wife and I mentioned to our waitress, Mary, that our food was burnt, and she said she would return the two entrees to the Chef. We saw the owner, Peter, acting as host, overhear the conversation and follow Mary to the kitchen. About 15 minutes later, Mary returned, delivering two new Osso Bucco entrees, with the sauce on the side, this time, and they were delicious, when cooked properly, and not charred and hidden under the dark sauce. We finished and had two great desserts, and were presented a check of $101. We left Mary a $15 tip. Living locally, we MAY return again, as the food was delicious, AFTER the Chef tried to dupe us. He must have presumed that we just blew into town, and fell off the turnip truck, and wouldn't notice his obvious mistake. But, no small apology from the owner, waitress, or Chef has left a nasty taste in our mouths, so we MAY NOT return.
