“Tired”

Hyatt West Hollywood

I am sorely disapointed with this hotel. I don't know why but I expected so much from the Hyatt brand but somehow the name does not deliver. I checked in to find awful renovation works going on... very disappointing since I was not informed of this when I booked. Infact this was the most expensive hotel i stayed in throughout my stay in LA and i felt like i was being ripped off. To be fair, the receptionist did try and make it up by giving me complimentary breakfast. Still I could have spent my money elsewhere and get better accomodation..

I have stayed in a lot of hotel rooms... this is one of the worst I have ever been in.. Room was sooo tired. Furniture old, stained and the toilet was very unsinspiring.... something is leaking from the sink and it did not smell good at all.. There is also no mini bar.. most ridiculous considering it is a Hyatt brand.. I wish i would have stayed at sunset on grafton... same price and much more hip... i could not also sleep due to thin walls... overall, the worst hotel i have ever been in... try somewhere else people, its not worth its price... not at all...

“What did you expect in this busy part of town?”

Hyatt West Hollywood

San Diego, CA

The wife and I were invited to a party at the House of Blues on Sunset Blvd. Conveniently, the Hyatt was located across the street and we've accumulated enough stays to earn a free night at a Hyatt hotel. We also needed a nice romantic getaway from the kids.

We've heard some negative feedback about this particluar Hyatt but we stayed firm with our reservation. My wife's first impression was yes, it is a little dingy. My impressions were yes, this place looked a little worn and there was construction going on (to refresh the hotel), AND this is a VERY busy part of LA (with frequent visitors, jet setters, hard party goers and rock star types). So we stayed hopeful and realistic. To tell you the truth, the room wasn't very bad at all. Yes, the walls were a little thin (you can hear conversations in the hallway outside) so I recommend you watch what you say and be mindful of the noises you make. :) This hotel gets a lot of visits and traffic, so expect a few things to look a little "used". But overall, the hotel looks very modern and stylish (as most structures in this area are).

We recommend that you do not get a room that overlooks Sunset Blvd as the noise will probably bother light sleepers. Get a room on one of the top floors as you'll be farther away from the visitor traffic AND make sure it faces the hills behind the hotel. We suggest you ask a hotel rep if there are any blocked out sets of rooms and to take a room far away from the ruckus, if possible.

Everything we expected from a Hyatt chain hotel was there. Nice appointments, great service, great location, a comfortable bed, clean sheets and great valet parking (parking is hard to find and very expensive on Sunset Blvd).

Overall, it was a pleasant experience. We already knew what to expect and we are realistic. We'll definitely return and recommend it to anyone who needs great lodging at a great location.

We slept well that evening after the party. The champagne and strawberries probably helped us.

BTW:

We recommend that you eat at Carnie's nearby for some tasty chili dogs and burgers.

“Not a Good Experience”

Hyatt West Hollywood

1 of 5 stars
Georgia
Apr 23, 2007

I just returned from a stay at the Hyatt West Hollywood. The best thing about this hotel is the location. The House of Blues and Sky Bar are across the street. However, you hear a lot of noise from traffic on Sunset Blvd. The biggest disappointment was the cleanliness of the room. The carpet and curtains were stained and dirty. Also, the shower curtain was stained too. In fact, they switched me to another room after I complained about the issue. The condition of the second room was only a little better than the first room. We couldn't go on the balcony since it was locked due to an upcoming renovation. Bottom line, I would not stay at this hotel again if I return to the area. It was a not a good experience.

“Dirty and Disgusting”

Hyatt West Hollywood

1 of 5 stars
Santa Cruz, CA
Apr 22, 2007

This place is a dump. The first room we were in smelled like 20-year-old smoke and the ghetto TV did not work. The staff moved us to a different room, actually an upgrade, but who cares when you are staying in slum. The stench was gone but the room was filthy.

Here is just a short list of why the rooms were disgusting:
The carpets were dirty
The ceilings are "popcorn" ceilings with brown water stains
The walls were dirty with several types of mystery stains
The bathroom walls were peeling
The windows were old and let in cold air and had a weird screen so you couldn't see out of them.
All the seats had gross stains

Well, as you can see, I hated it. I'm really upset about the whole experience. My husband surprised me with a trip to LA to see Wicked and go shopping. My dear husband did NOT check Trip advisor first, and booked a room closest to the Theater. BIG mistake!!!!

We are not snobby people but we do require a clean room that doesn't feel like a third world hotel room. I have stayed in nicer motels than this one. Take it from me if you want a decent room this is NOT the place for you. It ruined our romantic weekend.

“Not the best”

I went here booked by an agency for business...

I read some reviews prior to going. I could not change where I was at (since it was not my dime).

The driveway is very small and so is the lobby.
My room was so-so. The bed was comfy. My only problem was the bathroom.

The bathroom was small (don't care much about that) BUT the tub had chips and leftover hair in the soap holder. On my bed the welcome note was used by previous guest (guests).

I did not eat at the restaurant at the hotel, everything was expensive.
A place I recommend is the Saddleback Ranch.. It's loud and the have a bull to ride "I did not". If you go and have a drink, make sure you ask them not to fill up with ice as you will get 2 sips. The ribs are good here !!!!!!

If you take a tour to see celebs homes, go on Starline tours. They show you more houses than the tour I went on with another company. Hollywood Wax Museum was ok the Wax Museum in NY is better and looks more realistic.
