“Trip Advisor and Avenue Inn come through”

Avenue Inn & Spa

5 of 5 stars
Arlington, VA
Apr 18, 2008

Tripadvisor has never steered me wrong. Once again it has a winner with the Avenue Inn. Cozy, clean, friendly--a home away from home. My room (323) was a standard king and pretty large for 2 people. It was nice having the balcony facing Rehoboth Avenue. Luckily in the off season, it isn't too noisy on the street.

The chocolate chip cookies (Pillsbury, I think) were good as was the cheese spread and crackers (love Waverly wafers). The breakfast looked okay but I opted for the Robin Hood restaurant which has the best link sausages I've ever eaten. Also good were Pig+Fish and Fins.

Avenue Inn is centrally located and I didn't miss being right on the boardwalk. Easy enough to get out there--only a block away.

Minor dings which does not diminish my rating:
-Alarm clock went off at 6:30am (argh!!) which means housekeeping did not turn alarm off from previous occupant
-When I turned the heat on, a funny smell came out so I turned it off and opened the balcony door to air the smell out
-Refrigerator although at the lowest temp froze my Dasini water bottles.

I'm sure if I had notified the front desk they would have taken care of it right away as they are very service-oriented. It didn't bother me enough to go through the effort.

“Great little hotel!”

Avenue Inn & Spa

A friend and I recently decided to meet for a time of R&R and shopping. We have been to Rehoboth before, but decided to try somewhere different. I found the Avenue inn on the internet and decided to try it. We were not disappointed.
When we checked in, it was "Wine & Cheese" time (from 5-7 p.m.) Wow! Besides the lobby area being nice, we were immediately impressed. Our room was on the 3rd floor, room 318. It was on the small side, but definitely nice. The bathroom area was nice, and they had Bath & Body works bath amenities! There was a small microwave and fridge too. There is a small balcony, but it has really no view except for the back side of the hotel and some others in the distance (we knew this when we booked). However, we could look out to the left and see if the hot tub was occupied or not (we did use the hot tub). Breakfast was good and consisted of: baked egg dishes, fruit, pastries, cereals, coffees, and juices. The hotel is obviously at a nice location, as you can walk to almost anything downtown, and for a small hotel, it definitely has a lot to offer (indoor pool, exercise room, nice breakfast, etc.)
We did not use the spa (did not hear good things about it and it is expensive; cheapest massage is $100! We did use the Inner Reflections spa a few miles down on Rt 1 and we were pleased with that.)
We paid $109, but our room type was only $75 during the week. I would definately consider staying here again, especially in the off season when the prices are cheaper.

“Great stay”

Avenue Inn & Spa

Went to Delaware for a business 1 night stay with my wife and 16 year old son and decided to stay at the Avenue Inn because of its high rating and reasonable prices. We were not disappointed. Hotel personnel were freindly and helpful, room clean, pool and hot tub was very nice. We enjoyed the complimentary continental breakfast and free wine and cheese. This Inn is actually more like a bed and breakfast than a hotel.
Our only regret was that we could only stay 1 night this time, although we will be coming back.

“Should be #1”

Avenue Inn & Spa

First and foremost, this hotel is located in the heart of Rehoboth Beach. The Hampton Inn, which is listed as the #1 hotel, is on Route 1 (which is close to the outlets, but not the beach and the majority of the restaurants). One of the things that I really love about Rehoboth Beach is how "walkable" everything is. If you stay at the Avenue Inn, you won't need to move your car until you have to head home.

We have stayed at the Avenue Inn several times, always off-season. We only paid about $60 a night for our most recent stay.

The free breakfast is just enough food. There are fruit, pastries and cereal as well as a baked egg dish and, of course, coffee and juice. Everything was fresh and an employee was always in the breakfast room tidying up. The complimentary wine and cheese is a nice touch, but it doesn't seem like many people take advantage of it. On the other hand, everyone takes advantage of the warm chocolate chip cookies in the evening.

The pool, hot tub, sauna, and steam room are extremely well-maintained and a major selling point for this hotel. We always hit the pool during off-peak hours to avoid all the children. Luckily, children are not allowed in the hot tub.

While the beds are not the most comfortable in the world, the rooms are very nice. The bathroom is huge. Everything is clean, clean, clean!

I would recommend the Avenue Inn to anyone...those with children and those without.

“Best Kept Secret in Rehoboth”

Avenue Inn & Spa

This is a great place to stay. One block from boardwalk/beach and one block from Rehoboth Avenue, couldn't be any better. Very clean and well kept facility, professional staff and really nice touches: free full breakfast everyday; a nice and comfy lobby area with comfortable furniture; a laptop for free internet access so you don't have to drag yours along just to check email; a complementary wine and cheese/cracker spread every evening at 5; fresh baked cookies around 8pm; swimming pool; hot tub; sauna; steam room and that is before you spend a dime on the wonderful spa menu. We stayed with 3 kids in a queen suite and while we have seen bigger suites, I got no complaints for a 2 night stay. Also, they have safe, well-lit, easy access and ample underground parking. This was not our first stay and certainly will not be our last. GREAT JOB!!!
