Last fall my husband and I stayed at the Palm Plaza for the 4th time. I am sorry to say it has gone downhill over the years. The rate is inexpensive, but when comparing the rate to other properties, don't forget to add the rediculous parking fee that is tagged onto the price. Our first room had a smelly (moldy?) carpet problem. No matter how much deodorizer the maintenance man used, the awful smell just lingered. We switched rooms after one night, and was pleased with the second room. If you get the "smelly" room-walk out immediately and request a different room right off the bat...the deodorizer isn't going to help. It's sad that such a nice hotel has gotten so run-down over the years. I hope if this hotel was sold that new owners will spruce it up a bit. I like the quiet location, and it's close to my favorite Daytona Beach Restaurant - Aunt Catfish's.
