Great hotel!

We were there at a not-so-busy time of the year and it was fabulous. I have read the reviews about this one and most were positive so we tried it as opposed to the others we have stayed in past years. Price was very good and the service was excellent.

The elevator in the north tower is working much better since some of the reviewers have stayed. We noticed our balcony door would not lock and they sent maintenance up IMMEDIATELY. The view was perfect from our oceanfront room and the morning coffee and doughnuts were the perfect breakfast for us (saved us a daily trek inland to Dunkin Doughnuts)..

Our room was clean and while the bathrooms are small it worked fine for us,since it was just the two of us. I would stay here again and would recommend it.

We didn't even make it one night. It wasn't even that bad that our room was directly across from the elevators and you could hear everything, the room was stale and awful.

I'm not picky, but I couldn't even stand to walk barefoot on the carpet and I'm from Florida! I wear sandels everywhere, being barefoot isn't a new thing.

I stayed here over 12 years ago and loved it. It's sad to see it not in the same condition.

We booked 5 days at El Caribe and was in room 503. Very nice veiw and the room was very clean...however ...NEVER.....STAY THERE DURING SPRING BREAK....we checked out early because we couldnt get any sleep. We was told that they had a security guard there and did not tollerate any loud breakers...however that wasnt true ...the people in the adjoining room picked the lock and had access to our room and the guard had to come back and relock it....alot of things going on there that shouldnt have been...If it hadnt been spring break it would have been very nice...nice beach...stores close resuarants close by too.

The El Caribe is very competitively priced and has a wonderfull beach access thats not as crowded as further North, but be aware that you get what you pay for. We stayed in an ocean front efficiency on the 6th floor of the North tower that had as much of a view of the other balconies as it did the ocean. Our room was right next to the door to the stairs which wouldn't be so bad except the ONE elevator they had broke down at least 3 times while we were there. The door to the stairs as well as the doors to the other rooms slams everytime they close causing a loud boom that echoes through the room. The day we checked out It took over 20 min. to get the elevator to our floor so we could take our luggage to the car. The bathroom vanity and sink are in the hallway between the kitchen and bedroom leaving a small room for the shower and to change clothes in privacy (We have two children). When I checked out I told the attendant that I would not return based mainly on the elevator problems her responce was "Oh that must be the North elevator it's always a problem". I believe if you know it's a problem then you should fix it and have some consideration for the customer that just paid you a large sum of their hard earned money.
