My family of 5 (one being a 9month old and I am nearly 6 mo pregnant) booked a room through a private individual back in January. We stayed in room 208. The hotel is nice looking for the most part, the pool area is very nice. Beach access is a little scary and the condo is mostly nice, very clean but not what we would consider staying in again. The condo is very small and was overfull of decorations and junk (magazines, ashtrays, plastic packaging, cleaning products, ect) stuffed behind furniture and in closets, ect, just not a place for a baby to be. I also didnt feel safe in the condo becouse the door lock was duck taped back to the door ( the lock that originally would take a card key) and the sliding glass doors didnt lock so there was a long wooded stick you were to use to jam the door shut)
The problem I had with the place was the music from the pool area blaring all night long untill midnight all weekend. The condo was NOT sound proof so we could hear everything all night. Even after the weekend (which was the fourth of july ) people set off fireworks right on the pool deck up untill midnight, kids were screaming and laughing and were extremely loud.
My finance went to the front desk about the issues several times and there was nothing they could do since the pool closed at midnight. My family also recieved 2 phone calls from the owner during our stay stating that the neighbors of the condo were complaining about the noise coming from our room, the tons of people in and out of the condo, the towels and bathing suits that we hung on the deck, stating that our clothes were falling onto the pool deck. The owner asked us to take down our things and put them inside since it is against the rules to have towels and bathing suits hanging from the balcony.....WHAT??? never heard of that before and all most all other condo balconies were covered in towels! DUH how else are these things going to dry out??
Anyway, this made me a nervous wreck and stressed me out since I couldnt figure out what the owner was talking about since we were gone most of the days so we were NOT noisy, we all went to bed (or at least tried to at around 9-10 every night) so we were not partying all night long, we took out towels down after the owner asked us to and there were still more complaints about it, and my family that lives in FL came to visit a couple of times but so what? We cant have visitors???
I just felt like I was being watched and being told what to do and how to do it even though I paid good money to stay there. We couldnt take it any longer so we went some where else to finish up the remainder of the vacation since we were getting married on Thursday. ( IF anyone wants to get married on the beach email me I know the perfect person to contact!). We stayed 2 nights at the AKU TIKI INN and it was FABULOUS!! Quiet, Free happy hour, a nice quiet pool, CLEAN!!! NO CRAP EVERYWHERE! NO ONE CALLING TO COMPLAIN about stuff that was not even happening. I also didnt have to take out my own trash and wash and dry the towels that the place provided like the we had to do in the condo so we could have fresh DRY towels for the week we were there.

My family and I have been going to the Hawaiin inn for 4 years.Previously before that we stayed at Tresure Island. We did not go there this year, Instead we went to Myrtle Beach.
What a mistake! We are already counting the days until we go back to the Hawaiin. The rooms we have had in the past have always been clean. Dave the bartender at the tiki bar was great. He always let us know where to go and what to see around town.
The kids enjoyed the DJ by the pool ,wish he was there other than just weekends. Anytime we had an issue we were always compensated. I am looking forward to going back next year with my family and friends.

Daytona Beach - Hawaiian Inn
July 7, 2008

Looks can be deceiving...We just returned from a trip to Daytona Beach Florida where we stayed at the Hawaiian Inn. We booked our room a month in advance and when we arrived and walked in to the lobby we thought wow what a beautiful place. We arrived a couple hours early after an 8 hour car ride and asked if our room was available - the front clerk called housekeeping and they said yes but it would be a few minutes. After an hour and a few trips to the front desk we were then told that a race team was staying there and they had priority over us and our room was actually not ready yet. Race team having priority?? Is our money, which they triple the price (249.00 a night) during an event not the same? Anyway after waiting two hours or more for our room we finally arrived only to find that half of the blinds looking out over the pool were on the floor and the bedroom blinds were broken and you could see in because there where no curtains- we had to turn the light off and close the door to change our cloths. We called the front desk and they sent their maintenance manager up who informed us that they were broke and he could not fix them - there was nothing he could do. The floors in the room were filthy and the a/c unit in the bedroom sounded like a 747 airplane. The balcony had duct tape wrapped around it and again the floor was filthy - from the looks of it we were the only room that did not have cushions on our chairs plus they were wobbly from being so old. We had to go down and get toilet paper and towels the following day because the housekeeping did not leave us any. I just want to say "Looks can be deceiving" we have been going to Daytona for 20 years on vacation and have stayed at many hotels and this is by far the worst, so be sure you check out everything before you spend your hard earned money.

“Could've been better”

We stayed at this hotel in 2007 and 2008 and had quite different experiences. For the most part, the 2007 stay went OK, with the exception of the palmetto bug by the elevator doors. But it was an outside corridor, so I could live with that in Florida. I did not find any bugs in the room, but didn't look that closely.

When we went back this year, we rented two rooms on the same credit card, and were put on different sides of the hotel. There was no mention made that the rooms would not be together and it was unfortunate as we have a rather large family and had to split everyone up more than we would have liked.

One of the rooms was terribly small and not a lot of fun. The other room had no view of the ocean, which was also not what we wanted. Back in the 1980s, it used to be a great place to stay. Now, it's in need of a good refurbishment and much better customer service.

Checked in 6/6/08 around 10:00 pm, stayed in room 521. When we opened the sofa bed to get ready for bed there were crumbs in the bed and a blood stained sheet. Called mgmt, sent a person up to change sheets. No pillows for bed..called for pillows. Odd odor in room. During the night noticed there was no hot water to wash hands. Morning came still no hot water. Went to pool, which was the only thing that was nice about this hotel. No cooler at pool rule, I am not used to this. We checked out and found out approx. 4 hours later that my husband had left my Brookstone "NAP" pillow behind at the hotel. I went back to get it and waited..and waited...and waited while housekeeper in charge went to check for the pillow. She finally came back and said that yes, the housekeeper had found the pillow and turned it in, however it had disappeared from the housekeeper quarters and couldn't be found. So dirty, nasty sheets, no pillows left for sofa bed, no hot water, odd smell and someone who works for hotel steels guests items that were only left behind for approx. 4 hours. No I will not stay at this hotel again and would not recommend it to anyone. If you can't trust your employees, you have a real problem.

I am so sorry for your experience at our hotel. We strive every day here to provide 100% guest satisfaction and clearly we fell short of that during your stay. To clarify, the pillow that housekeeping did find, belonged to a different guest that lost their pillow as well.

It is only in knowing our weakness that we can improve the guest experience so I thank you for taking the time to express your views.

I would encourage you to contact me so we can discuss this further and allow us one more chance to meet your needs.

Thank You
