We ate here in early March for the fourth time in as many years. We absolutely love this restaurant! The vast array of food with African flavors is astounding. While the selection is fairly consistent, there are enough new things each time to make it interesting. Each time I go back, I find that I pace myself better, sample the new stuff, but focus on the things that I like the best.
For me, the highlights are the meats: prime rib, chicken, and salmon that are all excellently seasoned and cooked to perfection. Something you wouldn't expect in a buffet. The soups are extraordinary. They didn't have my favorite this time, a cream of carrot and ginger, but they had a bacon/potato that was super. The desserts are always great, but I'm usually too full to enjoy them. This time, I held back, and was I lucky. The "cocomisu", a tiramisu with coconut, was out of this world.
The place can be on the noisy side, but I've never found it to be so bad that we couldn't carry on a decent conversation. If you are not staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge, be sure to set aside plenty of time before and/or after dinner to check out the animals on the "savannahs" surrounding the hotel (there are three of them), and to soak in the architecture and atmosphere of the hotel itself. At $25.99 for adults, this restaurant is an incredible bargain in Disney World. We will probably eat at Boma every time we are in Orlando.
