“Would return in a heartbeat!”

Embassy Suites Hotel Chicago Downtown Lakefront

What a great experience! This was our first time using Hotwire, and first time staying in downtown Chicago...and both turned out wonderful. We couldn't have been more pleased with the hotel. We arrived by train in the morning and hoped the hotel would allow us to check in early. They were very accomodating, allowing us into a room immediately, at least 5 hours ahead of the posted check-in time. Every staff member was friendly and helpful - especially Shirley, the hostess at the breakfast buffet. Rarely have I seen such a gracious and friendly hotel employee! By the way, this buffet is NOT your ordinary buffet, as someone previously wrote in a review. The hotel was clean, the room layout perfect for our family of 5 and the location couldn't have been better for all we wanted to do while visiting Chicago. We were able to walk to all the attractions we wanted to, except Shedd Aquarium, but that was an easy bus ride away. Also, the lake view from our room was spectacular. I highly recommend and hope to return soon!

“very nice hotel”

We stayed one night at the Embassy Suites near the lake and thought it was a great hotel. The interior atrium may be an architectural cliche but I still think it gives the hotel an amazing sense of openness and drama. Our room overlooked the lake and we loved the view, although a tall building partially blocked the view.

The two-room suite was very clean, the bathroom was spacious and nice, and overall we were pleased with everything. The complimentary breakfast was top-notch, with no lines and great omelets. The fitness center had first-rate equipment.

If you park directly you save a little money over valet parking, but it means you have to take two sets of elevators to get to your car, which can be a hassle of you are schlepping a ton of bags.

“Just Okay.”

Embassy Suites Hotel Chicago Downtown Lakefront

My wife and 18 month old stayed at the lakefront from April 8-13. It was our first stay in Chicago so I don't have other hotels in Chicago to use as a comparison but to me it was just average at best.

The atrium is a really bad concept if you ask me because sound really travels through that hotel...we were on the tenth floor but it felt like our room was in the lobby bar it was so noisy. We should have requested a room on the roof. Not only is the lobby bar loud but if the people staying next to you are somewhat loud you can hear them too! I could hear the tv from next door from my room.

The breakfast is great as long as you're up bright and early otherwise you'll be in line forever. Same goes for the free drinks from 5:30-7:30pm everynight...but it is free. Personally I'd rather pay $7 for a beer and get decent service.

The rooms were nice and big but filthy! I picked up a piece of broken glass off the floor and about 1000 hairs came with it.

Great location!
Parking is a complete rip-off! $49 for 24 hr parking!

“Great hotel”

Stayed 3 nights at this hotel. Very well kept and quiet. After recent renovation everything seemed new. Service was good. Parking is expensive but valet service was very prompt. Breakfast was typical buffet. Be advised that the pool is quite small and overun with kids. Not a good pool for an adult to enjoy.
It would be great if they had "adults only" pool times. (Like before 9am and after 10pm) \
I would definately stay here again.

“Embassy Suites Great Location”

My 5 daughters and myself stayed at this hotel over Easter break. The location is great. Rooms were clean, view was awesome, staff friendly, breakfast was very good and the cocktail hour in the evening was wonderful. We would definately stay again and the price was right! We shopped the entire time so location was very important as we walked everywhere.
