“Needed a shower after I left”

Had an interview down the street, and was leaving next day from midway airport, so I thought I'd stay here...big mistake! Worn, beaten up hotel, desk staff couldn't care less, stinky room, no breakfast. Stayed at a regular motel (comfort inn) in the area the day before, and couldn't believe how bad a hilton was in comparison. I guess this is the way the south side is in general.
Bottom line, stay elsewhere.

“Discrimination at the Oak Lawn Hilton”

We attended a wedding over this past weekend so there was a large group of us staying at the Oak Lawn Hilton. Service in the restaurant and bar is very slow and the bar staff is out right rude. While I was waiting at the bar for my boyfriend so we could go out to eat I over heard the Head of security making several degrading and discriminatory comments concerning not only the group I was with but a group that makes up a large percent of the Chicago population. The front desk was barely helpful and gave a cursory apology. I was very upset the only reason we stayed was because we were leaving this morning. The rooms were terrible with broken heating systems and some of our party's rooms were not cleaned.

“Rude service, loud noise from train, freezing pool”

Hilton Oak Lawn

We were not given the room requested and as we were traveling with children having a room with a king was difficult but we figured we came for a midwinter getaway but as we told front desk that would work we would just have them swim until tired enough to sleep on the floor, as they would only give us one rollaway although we had two children. The front desk failed to tell us that the pool would not be at swim temperature until Sunday. This was a Friday night. Went down to the pool, it was at 44 degrees according to the maintenance staff. They were the ones who told us that front desk staff had told them to take down the pool closed signs. When we asked front desk first they denied knowledge that the pool was too cold then as we were boarding the elevator they laughed and said ooh its too cold. Had we known at check in the pool was unavialble to swim we would not have wasted our evening there. Hiltons response was sorry for the inconvenience. So much for quality service. We will not stay in Oaklawn again. Staff was rude, room was noisy because of the train, and then we couldnt get a straight answer from any staff but maintenance about the pool. Don't waste your time or money here stay down the road at the Marriot fairfield free chocolate chip cookies, knowledgeable staff, and easy checkinn.

“Decent hotel - great food - noisy area”

A decent hotel but could use an exterior paint job and some new carpeting but the restaurant is just wonderful and the bar is nice as well. The staff is friendly and attentive but make sure to ask for a room on the rear of the hotel because the train blows by not 150 feet from the hotel and it's whistle is a good one. We liked the location at 4 miles from Midway airport and you can take the free shuttle to the airport and ride the train into downtown Chicago and get pretty much anywhere you need without ever moving your car.

Overall I would stay there again but don't pay more than $150 per night for your room.

“Stay away”

Hilton Oak Lawn

Aug 30, 2006

I booked this hotel for a one-night stay, ending our family's vacation. I chose this location because it was represented on Hilton's website as close to Midway Airport. WRONG! It was really 4-5 miles--so much for convenience. The room was large, and we were not bothered by any train noise. The biggest problem was that only one elevator was working. There were only two for the entire hotel, which is utterly inadequate. There is no breakfast buffet, much less complimentary. The only option for breakfast was table service (not a great idea with a flight to catch and kids to corral) and a "Starbucks" shop in the hotel. Turns out that the coffee shop only serves Starbucks coffee--the pastries were from some other source and were sub-par. I can't figure out why anyone would think this hotel was worth the price--$170/night! The positives were that the room was clean and large. I would not stay here again. I should have saved my pennies and stayed at the Hampton Inn across from the airport.
