If you're planning a visit to the Lake Michigan shore, consider staying at the Bayside Inn right on the Kalamazoo River in Saugatuck. We were very pleased with room #4 (even though it meant climbing to the 3rd floor). We especially enjoyed our private balcony to relax and watch boat traffic...from the vintage chain ferry to fishing charters to an 85-foot yacht from the Cayman Islands. Our balcony was also our preferred site for breakfast. Our room was fairly spacious and like others at the B&B decorated in a contemporary style. Since the owners aren't around, there isn't the same level of hospitality we've found in other B&Bs, but still we'd choose the Bayside for any return trip. Maybe by next year the owners will replace the two saggy chairs in room #4.
