“Clebrity "Last Resort"”

We flew into Reno on March 13th 2007 for the National Men's Bowling Tournament. We only had 2 weeks notice to fill and and virtually all the casino rooms were booked. We read the reviews on the Leisure Resort in Reno and said we would have faith and give it a try.

We checked in early evening. We were told to use the in-room safe (cost of $1.12/day) and were STRONGLY encouraged to use it for all valuables. Walking to the room it looked like a "pay by the hour" flop house. Dirty walls, florescent lights of various hues and an elevator that sounded like it was grinding to its last death.

Our room door faced the back of the facility and felt like the slums of Puerto Rico. The room was tired. Light bulb missing in one lamp, the bathroom so small it was hard to get in/out of. The bed must have been around for a decade and must have been the cheapest they could find.

The room got really warm (outside was around 80 degrees) so we turned on the air conditioning. It blew hot air. We went down to the desk and the attendant said they would have maintenance check on it but that they had gone home for the day. The next morning we went back to the desk and asked about the air only to be told that our room was on the main building system which had "seasonal" air so there was nothing to be done.

It was suggested that we not walk outside at night. The hotel sits next to the county court house and has a wide range of types of travelers.

I could go on but there is little point. We can sincerely say that this is a place you should AVOID at all costs. You would be better off staying almost anywhere else.

We stayed here over the Reno air races weekend-although the room was clean there is no housekeeping services on the weekend which we were never told about-it was written on a paper left on the table in the room-the staff was friendly, but didn't seem to want to go out of their way for anything. We were put in a room way out in the back near some old houses -I just didn't feel comfortable staying in the room alone while my husband was off to the races early so I had to go to my friends room at another hotel. The place is about 25 years old and I don't think they have done anything in the last 25 years! The elevators didn't work so we had to haul our bags up 4 flights of stairs to get to our room. I would not stay here again or recommend it to anyone. What a disappointment!

My stay included non-disclosure of rates, filthy carpets, horrible smells, and bad customer service over the phone and in person. The rooms were of adequate size, but the service sucks!! Do not expect anything other then grouchy, unhelpful customer service reps and front desk reps! Take my advice ,if you can avoid staying here, do so!! Take your money elsewhere!

The Lobby is nice and the Ice machine works well, but that's about all the good things we have say. Two elevators- neither working when we arrived- altho they did get one fixed the same day. Carpets filthy- the layout does not work well( two buildings unconnected- some things in one, some in the other without the elevator that works- generally a run down timeshare much like the rest of downtown Reno- stay somewhere else!

  • This TripAdvisor Member:
    • Liked — the ice machine, the rooms were ok
    • Disliked — the run down condition of the facility
    • Tips/Secrets: — try the peppermill or other well rated casion away from downtown

We checked into our "suite" first of all we were told it was indoor corridors. Well it was outdoor and the door faced the Slums of reno. Looking down over the belcony was a blood splatter on the alley below us. The rooms smelled very badly. I dont know where they came up with the pictures for the website, but they must have been taken when the place was brand new. We didnt end up staying there. We checked out as fast as we checked in.
