“Still a great value, but there are some changes I don't love”

Fitzgeralds Casino & Hotel

We stay at the Fitz a lot in Reno, they always comp a room or give it to you for dirt cheap. Just join their slot club. And that is still great. There is new ownership though. They changed the Limerick's meal comp and it is no longer valid on Saturdays. Well, they could have told us this when we made the reservation. It was a good meal, but I would have loved to eaten it much more cheaply on Friday or Sunday.

Overall, its still a great deal they give you there. Molly's Garden Restaurant was still good and the staff overall was pretty friendly. I stay away from the buffet, unless I use the "o'lucky bucks." (Its fine if its free, but not worth paying for it.) I still recommend this place, its just easier to focus on the bad rather than the good.

“hope the changes are good”

Fitzgeralds Casino & Hotel

we have stayed at Fitzgerald's many times because of the great value and comps and the fun gambling atmosphere. We were there for two nights the first week of December and are a little apprehensive about what changes are going to take place with the new ownership. The main thing that concerned us was the lack of slot machines and the very quiet atmosphere in the casino. It has always been such a noisy, fun place to play but it was dead silent and we could not win anything on the slots and didn't see anyone else winning either. The rooms were the same , but the buffet was closed all during the week and the Lucky Forrest is no more. I'll wait and see if the new owners add some fun things to this old casino before I totally judge the place, but my first impression was not good.

“Good value”

This hotel is a great choice for those looking for a good value. The hotel is located right in the middle of the Casino Strip and you can easily walk to all of the other casinos. The rooms were spacious and clean. We didn't have any of the problems that some reviewers had with the elevators or hot water. The longest wait we had for an elevator was maybe 2 or 3 minutes. According to signs all over the casino new owners took over this month and pledge to improve the casino and the elevators. If you're looking for a good value downtown I'd definitely recommend the Fitz!

“2nd stay in a year/ Can't be that bad.”

Fitzgeralds Casino & Hotel

I have stayed here twice in '07 once on business and once for pleasure.

Standard rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable and at $39.00 per night they are the bargain of the year! Hotel is centrally located in downtown Reno, and walking distance to all that downtown offers.

Casino is bright and lots of 24 hour gaming action is available. Two small bars on the first and second floor definitely need new staff as on both my visits the staff was slow and the service was poor. Also the advertised drink specials were not available on both occasions at the second floor bar (due to low stock I was told)?

For the price and accommodations I would stay here again but ask for a 4th or 5th floor room and avoid the elevators! Slowest elevators in the world and they don't hide that fact, but it starts to get annoying after the first few days!

Check in is quick and the bell desk is very helpful in handling your luggage for and early check in or late check out.

Buffet and restaurants are good, but the menu does not change much in the buffet so once you eat there a few times it gets routine fast.

Parking is free for guests, but the parkade is across the street. You also will need a validation stamp on your ticket from the front desk every time you leave the parkade or you'll be charged. During high check in periods its a real pain waiting for the stamp.

Overall I'll rate this hotel a 7 out of 10 and would stay here again.

“OLD STYLE HOTEL with friendly folks, Great for the bowling crowd”

If your driving accross the country this would be good place to stop. The price is right and food is what you would expect at any 24 hour New Jersey dinner.

Parking is the main problem here if you like to self park. There is more than enough parking once you fing the deck. Parking is free for hotel guests but charges way to much for others. Mainly because of the Bowling center is katty-corner from this parking deck. Once you now your way around the deck has a great view of the "reno" sign and is just a blocks walk to the main entrance. This is not much of a walk when compared to Vegas parking decks.

This hotel is great for those looking to get a quick look at Reno since most of the downtown action area is less than 4 blocks away from this place.

Had a mini -suite worth the extra bucks it provides a fridge and a couch that are better than most mid level hotels.

Everybody knows the elevators here are SLOW and they are proud of it. It slow but it goes.
