Weather forced an unplanned night in Reno and I reluctantly called the Sands for a room. I'd stayed several times before and promised I'd never stay again. Rooms were worn out, there were rowdy parties, the trains horns blew through the night and the check-in was a long wait. Since they've been bought by Terrible's, everything seems to have improved. The trains are below grade level now and no longer have to blow their whistle and the property is in better shape than before. They've raised the rates a bit but this, hopefully, has elevated the quality of customers. There was a loud neighbor the night I stayed, but one visit from security and they quieted down. I got a good nights rest, the bed and bedding were very good, everything was clean and worked. I don't know if I got lucky or if this is a profound change...time will tell. For now, I'd conditionally recommend them.
