Had a wonderful 6 nights stay over at Legends. Let me break down the review part by part.

Check-in
Once you reached the hotel, you will be greeted with a glass of sparkling wine and a cold towel to refresh you up. You will be ushered into the reception area where they will do the check it while you are seated down to enjoy your glass of wine. After the quick check-in, the porter will show you the room.

Service in the hotel
Service at the hotel is excellent. All the staff will try their very best to keep all guests feel at home and in great comfort.

Rooms
All rooms come with a balcony which will face the sea. I'm staying in the Superior room which has a lovely view of the sea. Room facilities are pretty basic but the room condition can be improved. Tiles showed black patches and there are ants crawling around. Room service was done twice a day, once in the morning and another time during the evening. So the towels will be changed twice a day and your bed will always be neat and tidy.

Drinks @ the restaurant
We were on full-board package, so the drinks are not included. To top-up to all-inclusive at the hotel is ard Euro 104 per pax per day. We do not take much alcoholic drinks, so we only took a bottle of mineral water (Euro 3.50) for each meals. My advice to all the wine, beer drinker, take the all-inclusive as the drinks are quite expensive.

Ginkgo Restaurant
We have problems booking dinner at the other restaurants. We arrived on Saturday evening and when we tried to book the other restaurants for dinner, they are all packed till Friday, which is the day we leave Mauritius. So we only had our dinner at Ginkgo all the time.

Ginkgo has different theme for each day. Sometimes it is buffet, sometimes it is set dinner. We are quite alright with the food served in this restaurant and the dessert is always a pleasant surprise.

One must really be patient when you are having the set dinner as we took around 2 to 2.5 hours to finish the set dinner.

La Bastide
Had our lunch here all the time as well as it served foods to our likings. Nothing much to complain about the food. Servings are just nice and the restaurant has a great view of the sea.

Spa
Spa price is on the high side and it cost around Euro 150 for a massage. Inside the spa, there's a nice cozy area to enjoy your jacuzzi, sauna and steam bath. There are altogether 3 jacuzzi and out of the 3, two of them are warm jacuzzi.

Swimming pool
There are two pools. The center pool has a good view of the lagoon and the banyan pool is a bit further. We did not use the pool at all as it was winter in Mauritius and the water is really cold. Most of the people only laze around the pool having their tan.

Water Sports

Glass bottom boat - There are two time slots each day and you have to book the slots. Nothing much to view as the sea is not too clear. The corals are dead and there are not too much fishes.

Snorkelling - There are two slots a day and you got to book it. The water is cold and there are not much to see.

Wind-surfing - You can do it everyday but it pretty much depends on the weather. Legends offers free lesson on Tues and Thurs.

Water-skiing - A daily offered activity. Legends has private skiing course at Euro 80 per hour.

Deep see fishing - The boat house charged at a rate of Euro 500 for 5 hours trip.

Tips
Tips should only be given at the end of your stay.

In conclusion, we had a relaxing time at the resort and will look forward to another trip.

Let me just state that our group of four had a good time overall.
My partner and I went half-board as we drink little, prefer to pick our own excursions and didn't intend to be 'at home' for many lunches. Our bill at the end of 14 nights was 160 euros for us both, compared against 1000 pounds each to go all inclusive.
Our friends were AI and got married there. I dread to think what their final bill was for all the wedding-related extras. A bottle of Moet was 130 euros, then there was the Sega band, additional flowers etc. all highly priced.
My biggest gripe was that water, which is a life essential, was charged at 3.5 euros per litre, which is ten times the retail price of the same brand at a local shop...... outrageous in my opinion. Water is of course included free when AI. My advise is to buy locally.
Another irritation was having ones plate swiped away by the waiters while still chewing the food that was on it.
Mentioned on another review was the dated feel of the room... I agree. I also agree that the shower was mouldy, probably due to the poor ventilation. The toilet had no working extractor fan or opening window.
Mosquito bites were another problem in the first few days... do take a repellent, and don't forget to use it.
Car hire from the hotel is more than twice the price from anywhere else at 50 euros a day for a tiny Nissan Micra. I hired a car locally for 2700 rupees (about £54) for 3 days.
My last memorable gripe is that the live music in the bar is way to loud. They generally start the evening as background music for the diners and early bar users, which is lovely. But, as the evening progresses they get louder and louder, eventually, conversation is only possible with your immediate neighbour.

Having said all of that, this hotel has a lot going for it, the staff are very friendly and efficient. The beaches are fine. There are plenty of water-based activities at hand. The food is good, although, the hot food should be hot not warmish.
Had a great time but glad to be home.

Well where do we start????

The food was poor! We were rushed from our table every night! Drink was overly overly priced...3 pound for a small coke and about 7 pound for a vodka! Our lunch would cost us about 20 pound per day and that was halfing a baguette! All our spending money was spent on drinks (not even alcoholic) and lunch!

The reception staff twice made a mistake with our bill, my husband being told at one point that he owed 2000pound for four days food and drink!

Everything is priced in euros, so take euro currency with you!

The sorroundings were nice although EXTREMELY boring if you are here for two weeks!

DONT attempt to go in the main swimming pool unless you want to get hypothermia!

If the al a carte menu is not to your liking....you starve! Unless you pay over the top to go to one of the other restaurents or you want to fork out 25pound for room service for a hamburger!

The all you can eat buffet is not all you can eat...after two plates you are forced to get dessert as all your cutlery is removed and your bill is giving to you before you even finish dessert!

The rooms are ok, but only if you like sharing with ants and the occasional lizard!!!!!

“Fantastic place, go All Inclusive!”

Legends Hotel

What can I say? It really is five star, very welcoming staff. Peaceful beach and pools. Junior suite is large and quite luxurious. Food and drinks as well as trips and leisure activities included. Trust me when I say go all inclusive, we estimated cost otherwise would've been over €150 per day on food and drink alone, and there was only two of us (and we don't eat like pigs!). Ile de Deux Cocos is a fantastic retreat, the speedboat to the island was a great laugh. Trip on Catamaran was blissful. Both these trips were included on the Pure Discovery package, as is Golf lesson, Tennis lesson, Massage, Cooking Lesson with the Chef. Weather was good but not great, rained a couple of times, was raining when we landed. Flew with Virgin. Richard Branson met our plane when we touched down, but he moved out of the rain before we got to meet him! We met some lovely people on their Honeymoon/Holiday which far outweighed that though!

“More Zig and Zag than Ying and Yang”

Legends Hotel

Overall we enjoyed our stay at Legends but felt that the cost was not reflected in the quality of the resort, see below for further details.

Rooms - tired and dated, mould in our shower and the walls were paper thin (you could hear the people in adjoining rooms go to the toilet!)

Location - lovely bays to sunbath and plenty of sunloungers, could get peace and quiet if you wanted.

Restaurants - we were on half board so got breakfast and dinner.

Breakfast was ok.

Lunch - very expensive in the bars - £10 for a hamburger, which I wouldn't have minded paying if it was a good hamburger, it wasn't)

Dinner - the ginko (buffet ) restaurant was good on some days (a la carte and indian buffet) and average on others (asian buffet).

The other restaurants were very poor, being on half or full board meant you only got a choice of 2 dishes without paying a supplement (usually €12 plus). However the quality of the food was very poor. In particular the karma restaurant, was a big disappointment (you were served 5 trilogies?!, I cannot begin to explain!)

Also the cost of drinks was extortionate, £5 for a pint of beer, £2.50 for a bottle of water, all in all it left you not wanting to spend money in the restaurants because the cost didn't justify the quality of food.

We wouldn't go back, for our honeymoon last year we went to the Tanjung Rhu in Langkawi, it was half the cost and five times better in all areas.
