We spent a weekend at the Colony IV. We stayed in the main building on the first floor. The room was very clean and odor free. My husband and I didn't like the mattresses, we thought they were too soft and both of us had a kink in our backs the next day. The Bath and Body Works supplies were awesome. The indoor pool was too cold one day and too warm the next. The staff was very friendly. We never heard from our neighbors to the right and left but at 11:30 pm I heard the upstairs folks. They didn't sound like a party, just walking heavily. All in all, a very positive stay, we can't wait to go again!

My son and I took my eldery parents here for Easter weekend and just loved the hotel. I had not been to Nags Head for 15 years so just reviewed the hotel website and previous reviews to book. We stayed in adjoining rooms in the tower bldg on the 2nd floor. Really enjoyed the fact that the view from balcony was at the top edge of a dune with view of water and horizon. The plantation blinds in the room was a really nice touch instead of typical cheap draperies. The room was spacious and clean and staff was great. Room was also quiet. Hotel was pretty crowded but we never heard other guests. Only complaint I have is that access to the bldg for handicap adults as well as trying to deal with the luggage cart provided by the hotel was difficult. The sidewalk dipped dangerously at the entrance to bldg. There's also an unused concrete block in driveway that's in the way. I would suggest that the hotel use the 'striped' unused parking space there and pour a concrete ramp to be used for handicap guests as well as all guests using the luggage cart provided.

I'm not a big fan of motels but seeing as it had the highest rating on TA I figured I'd give it a go.

The motel is right on the water and any room on the 3rd or 4th floor of the Tower building has a direct view of the water. They offered Bath and Body Works Shampoo, Lotion, Etc. The room looked a little dated. Chipped paint on the balcony, old style shower head, and dark shower. We did always have hot water which is a plus. Rooms offered a microwave and mini fridge.

They have an indoor pool which is open until 9pm. The breakfast was just basics (some fruit, cereal, eggo waffles, little muffins). Parking lots were kept clean. Gazebo on the dune offered a nice place to sit and watch the waves.

Overall we enjoyed our stay. A few little updates here and there would help.

The wife and I traveled to OBX for a day and after reading the reviews on TripAdvisor decided to stay at this location. My only complaint is that the prices shown on the TripAdvisor listing ($55 average) is not reasonably close to the prices listed on the property website (min. 70$ off season)

Otherwise the room was clean and comfortable (alert: small bathrooms), and the staff friendly and helpful. The beach location is excellent and Kill Devil Hills is close enough to everything on the Outer Banks.

All in all I would definitely recommend this location.
