We enjoyed a two night family stay and were quiet pleased by the overall experience. Staff were helpful and friendly. The rooms were basic and clean. There was a well equipped play room for younger children but some games cost a Euro! The outdoor swimming pool was a little chilly but then so was the weather! The location is excellent with nearby beaches but prepare for a one hour or so drive either way from Killarney but where better to relax for a drink and get away from it all. The presence of the owner gave an air of efficiency and care. The hotel is closed from to September to April. Derrynane house, childhood home of Daniel O'Connell is nearby and worth a visit.

We rented one of the holiday cottages for a week and were absolutely thrilled with how it turned out. It was much larger than we had expected, brand new, and with a magnificient view of the ocean right from the master bedroom. The hotel manager/owner Mary O'Conner was also spectacularly helpful. She booked several activities for us to do in the area and allowed us to charge them all to the cottage account (thus we didn't have to deal with running short of cash). My family and I all loved the experience, and would without a doubt return there again.

We have recently returned from a four night visit to the Derrynane Hotel. It is a few years since our last visit and we were delighted to see that it is still a wonderful experience all round.

It was a tonic just to be in such a beautiful coastal setting and Mary O'Connor and all her staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. Dinner was so enjoyable that we decided to eat in the hotel every night.

We have no hesitation in recommending the Derrynane as a great value, relaxing getaway. We will definitely be going back!

From the moment we drove through the gates of the hotel we knew we were in for a treat. Photos don't do it justice. The views of the mountains and sea are simply spectacular, it takes your breath away. It is so peaceful, so different to our everyday lives in busy Belgium. We sat on benches overlooking the sea wishing we never had to leave. Time has really stopped in Derrynane!
As if that wasn't enough the staff were so welcoming and helpful. It's a very personal service. The owner is extremely hands on and chatty. She comes around to your table at the restaurant and asks if everything is OK etc...
We had a room with a sea view, very clean and of course as quiet as a monastery.
We're really looking forward to going back this Summer, with the children this time.
