“This hotel needs serious refurbishing!”

Ramada Heathrow

As I work in london in the weekdays and fly back home at the weekends, I try out a lot of Hotels in the area of outer and West London, often for me economy is very important at the same time searching for some type of quality and value!

This hotel is very run down and very false looking from the Ramada Website, I have no doubt that if you wish you could live in a 70's look a like hotel this is place to go! the only worring thin is that this place has deteriorated quite badly.

I would not recommend this hotel if your are expecting some sort of Ramada Quality because it has none at all the following problems viewed:

1. Shower curtians with mould

2. Bedroom windows that do not close

3. No safety door locks

4. Carpets that look as though they need changing in corridors ways

5. 1 lift that takes maximum of 2 persons

6. A car park that has no safe parking facilities.

7. On direct flight path of one of the Heathrows runways, aircaft start over your head at 5am till 24:00hrs

If you have to stay more than one night at this place then think of staying out! on your there!

“Awful...Ramada should be ashamed”

Ramada Heathrow

We were booked in to the hotel by my employers hotel reservation service. Unfortunately I had read some of the reviews before we stayed there but they would not change my booking!

This was our last night in the UK before moving over to America for a couple of years. Ordinarily we live in SW London so we know the Heathrow area! this could not have been a worse farewell to London! Cranford is not the most pleasant area and although the hotel touts itself as being 'Heathrow' it is away from the rest of the airport hotels.

Although the front desk staff were pleasant and helpful and we had no complaints about them, the hotel lets itself down by the dated decor, the stained carpets, the moudly shower curtain, broken tiles, the peeling wallpaper, the shabby lift, the smoky lobby and bar area and the thin walls between bedrooms (we were woken up several times by the family next door).

The food service was awful. Dinner was overpriced and the ambience so lacking that we braved the local area and crossed the road to Dominos pizza and had a takeaway. We were staying during a period of refurbishment and the restaurant was closed. Dinner and breakfast were served in a function room. Breakfast was truly awful - eggs swimming in oil, sad looking 'fresh' fruit.........we ended up eating at the airport!

If the hotel hadn't been so expensive I wouldn't have felt the need to cite so many faults but for the standard it was truly overpriced. Ramada Jarivs should be ashamed of themselves.

If you need to stay at Heathrow spend more and stay closer or stick to the Travelodge!

“Don't go there”

Ramada Heathrow

I wanted to take my boyfriend to a nice hotel before we went away for his birthday. Unfortunatley the nice hotel, turned out to be a bit of a nightmare. I was told that it was a four star hotel, which definately isn't true.
Our room was tiny, the sheets were dirty and the radiator made loud noises all night.
We got woken up several time in the night by people talking outside the paper thin walls.
The bar and restaurant were close and the room service cost a small fortune, so we opted for fish and chips from a shop across the road.
My advice would be to give this one a miss.

“I love Ramada Jarvis Heathrow!”

Ramada Heathrow

...and no I don't work there. I have just sold a hotel in Cornwall, so I know a bit about the hotel trade.

I have stayed at Ramada Jarvis Heathrow at least once a year every year prior to departing for holidays in Canada. The reception and bar areas have been extensively refurbished and the old settees and chairs have gone. I have always been impressed on the standard of cleanliness in the public areas. Rooms are either in the original building (historic mansion), or the the extension which I guess was built in the 70s. There is a lovely planted courtyard garden for summer use.

They do have old style bedside consoles, but apart from the lights, the radio and television features are courtesy of a modern television information system. The rooms have always been comfortable and clean.

Like others, we have experienced problems with reservations, not only made through Infotel, but also when we have booked ourselves. We were once given a key to a room that hadn't been serviced but that was sorted out in 15 minutes whilst we enjoyed a drink. My guess is that is what happened to the reviewer below. Negotiating a good price has never been a problem.

We have eaten breakfast there and it has been cooked to order and very good, served efficiently by oriental staff. The coffee was good and put in an insulated pot on the table. We have also eaten dinner on many occasions, and whereas the service has been OK at worst to unfaultable (French waiter) at best, the food has been outstanding.

We have used the airport shuttle service which has been efficient. If you know what you are doing, you don't have to pay to park! Just look to the left of the exit ;>) Alternatively say you haven't got a car on check-in, and ask for an exit token after you have paid your bill.

The thing that makes the place is all of the staff, in particular Irish Patrick McMahon the porter, and Patricia the evening barmaid. The manager and assistant manager are both very approachable.

“Keep looking”

Ramada Heathrow

Sep 6, 2005

I needed a place to stay close to Heathrow due to a very early departure time. I found the hotel on Laterooms for GBP65 for one night - a savings of GBP60 from the regular room rate - and there was an airport shuttle service which I was concerned about for my early departure.

The desk staff had no record of my reservation and wanted to charge me full price. I insisted that I had a confirmed reservation but had no print out of the confirmation e-mail. I finally convinced the night manager that I did have a confirmed reservation by using the pay internet kiosk in the lobby to locate the e-mail in my e-mail account and forcing him to read it from the screen because there was no way to print it.

The room was tiny with 2 twin beds separated by the oldest "remote control console" I've ever seen (after describing it to my mother she estimated it as state of the art in the 60s or early 70s). The bedding itself was decent. The bathroom was almost as large as the bedroom area but badly "updated" with flaking paint on the tiles, industrial type flooring material, and very rough towels. There was no breakfast order form in the room to hang on the door and my requested newspaper was never delivered in the morning. There was no air conditioning for the room although there was a rotating fan to use which was necessary given the temperatures in London were 92F early that day.

The breakfast buffet was a rip off for 11.75 and the wait staff moved very slowly. I ordered scrambled eggs and sausage but it took so long to come I barely had any before I had to rush off to catch my airport shuttle. The scrambled eggs looked very creamy but slightly undercooked to my American taste but were probably perfect for a Frenchman. I did get to eat one sausage (very tasty), over heated croissants, and toast burned around the edges as well as a cup of watery coffee.

I'd stay here only if every other airport hotel was full. Even the Best Western would be an option before this hotel.
