“Not worth the price”

Turtle Cay Resort

2 of 5 stars
Washington, DC
Mar 26, 2008

We had booked a suite (with a soaking tub and fireplace) about 6 weeks in advance and I called to confirm the reservation several days before we checked in. They had overbooked the hotel and ended up giving us a nominal discount to stay in a regular room. There wasn't much else they could do because of their mistake, but we were not at all satisfied with the room, and we were not satisfied with the management's handling of the situation. The mattress was terrible and neither one of us slept well. We could not control the temperature in the room and had to sleep with a window open, fine, but there was a drainage spout that dripped outside our window all night.

There are much better hotels all along the strip and this one isn't even on the ocean. Take your money elsewhere.

    • Disliked — The mattress was awful. Not pleased with management.

“Their listening is right or wrong depends how you see it”

Turtle Cay Resort

The walls are thin is an understatement. We were there for a soccer tournament I got up at 6am and to my amazement the first thing I heard was the guy upstairs taking his morning leak. I came back to find water all over my bathroom floor which I was told by maintenance was from toliet. Others in my group had problems with the thin walls thank god there were no newlyweds staying around us. Very nice look to the place plus the kids loved the pool. But for this amount of money they should of least put doughnuts and coffee out. I would not recomment this hotel for the price. Nice looking hotel but not worth the bad night sleep you get on those half pillows they have.

“What A Get Away!”

Turtle Cay Resort

I recently went to Turtle Cay for a girls weekend. The experience was great and we loved the hotel. 2 of the girls went down earlier than I did and had no problems checking in, although they did mention that the check in lady was rude( she didn't give us parking for both cars). When we arrived at 10 o'clock that night there was a new lady present more than willing to allow us to park both cars in the guest parking. So, for future reference you might just want to be careful with how many cars you bring down.

Overall, my experience was great although I didn;t like a few things. One being the set up of the rooms. You enter through the master bedroom then down a hallway into the living dining area. I wish instead it was set up different, you really lose a lot of your privacy with that aspect. Another thing I didn't like, is like previous reviewers the walls are paper thin. If your trying to dry clothes, mix a drink or play a game EVERYONE can hear you. Along with this idea the master bedroom is also located right beside the road so you hear cars all night. Lastly, the temperature in the room was hard to handle. The master bedroom would be freezing while all other parts of the unit were hot, we left the balcony door open most of the time.

As for the good side of it, the pool was amazing. The staff always provided us with plenty of towels and was very friendly telling us the hot spots to go to in the area. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything you might need to cook, along with a huge dishwasher. Everything was clean, and the heated pools were an added bonus to a winter vacation.

“They are listening.... pretty place though”

Turtle Cay Resort

2 of 5 stars
Chesapeake, VA

Beautiful place, but beware, you can hear everything, which means your neighbors can hear you too. The walls are very thin, we ended up being beside a group of partying college kids that were loud and obnoxious from 12am - 3am, we could even hear people throwing up in the bathroom next door. Not a nice thing to hear - ended up calling security twice before things finally quieted down. Anyone from the outside can come to the hotel, easy access for a party as we found out.
As mentioned in other reviews, the walkways are loud and you hear everyone that walks, or totes a suticase down the walkway, very disturbing. Don't expect to get a good nights sleep.

“Great place to stay with friendly helpful staff”

Turtle Cay Resort

Feb 29, 2008

My family had to come to VA Beach at last minute and chose to stay at the Turtle Cay resort. Although we are here in the off-season we are still very pleased with our stay. The local transit isn't servicing during the off-season. The kids and I wanted to visit the local aquarium (great place and it's hands-on). My husband had the car so getting there was a problem. The concierge offered to drive the kids and I to the aquarium in his personal vehicle. If this isn't accomodating and friendly I don't know what is.
