My wife and I stayed at the Courtyard by Marriott hotel just off I-95 near the Potomac Mills outlet mall in Woodbridge, VA on January 20, 2007. The hotel is situated close to many restaurants and stores. The hotel is located off the main road (Prince William Parkway) so the traffic noise was minimal. Check-in was fast and they even allowed me to check in early (just past noon) because I got to the hotel within an hour of making the reservation. The hotel lobby was nicely decorated with a fireplace and large plasma TV screen. There was ample parking outside the hotel. The facilities in the hotel looked modern and well maintained. I stayed in a one room unit with a king sized bed, work desk and chair, pull out sofa bed, table, TV, and an armoire. There was a small refrigerator and coffemaker. The room has small spot lights installed in several parts of the room which was different than most hotel rooms. The A/C and heating worked with no problems. The bed mattress was very comfortable and the blanket covers were adequate. The bathroom has a hair dryer, Vaseline lotion, shampoo, soap, and a granite countertop in the sink area. The tub/shower combo area has an extra extension to allow you to sit down or place other things while taking a bath. Water temperature and pressure were no problems. There was an adequate supply of thick towels and washcloths. The TV offered a wide range of cable channels, but the unit was the regular 27 inch curved screen type. The property and facilities were well maintained and there was nothing in need of repair. I paid $81 for a night's stay which is reasonable for the accommodations in that area. They offer an option that includes breakfast, but it was close to $100 so you were spending close to $20 just to eat breakfast. I opted to eat outside the hotel. The hotel is next to a Marriott Residence Inn which cost more (over $100), but if you don't need the kitchen facilities and free breaskfast, I would opt for this hotel. Potomac Mills mall is only a few minutes drive away so if you like to walk a lot, it offers quite a few stores. There are also satellite strip malls next to it and you can find a lot of stores such as Ikea, Wal-Mart, Sam's Club to buy things. I ate at a China King buffet close to the outlet mall on 14345 Potomac Mills Rd. They offer a wide assortment of dishes for $12.50 per person. I ate a lot of flounder (cooked to order), sushi, crab legs, and shrimp dishes. Great value if you eat a lot of seafood. Across the parking lot is the Palm Tree Chinese Restaurant that offers an all you can eat buffet for under $7. However, I did not see the type of dishes that they offered. If you are looking for a nice clean hotel close to Potomac Mills mall, this is a place that I definitely would recommend.
