“Great Hotel, Excellent Location”

Nine Zero Hotel - a Kimpton Hotel

5 of 5 stars
Redondo Beach, CA
Jun 6, 2008

This hotel has THE BEST location in all of Boston. It's right across the street from Boston Common, the Public Garden, the Capitol, and a short 2-3 block walk to Fanueil Hall, Quincy Market, and downtown crossing. It's about a 10 minute walk to Boston's North End, where some of the best restaurants are located. When you're tired of walking, you can jump on one of Boston's many subway lines (aka the T). This hotel is located near Park St., Downtown Crossing, and Government Center, which makes it easy to get on any subway line without having to transfer. The hotel is very classic/contemporary and has a welcoming, comfortable feel to it. Upon entering there's a nice sitting area where they have complimentary happy hour in the evening. The staff was nice, friendly, and outgoing. They made me feel at home while on the road. The rooms were clean, well laid out, and had enough pictures and decor that didn't make it feel like a normal hotel room. It was not noisy given the downtown location. This hotel helped me maximize my time while on the road and also allowed me to enjoy my time in Boston. I highly recommend the Nine Zero and look forward to coming back.

“Great business hotel smack in the city”

Nine Zero Hotel - a Kimpton Hotel

5 of 5 stars
New York City, New York
May 29, 2008

I stayed at Nine Zero for two nights for business, but I would recommend for vacation as well. It is a modern style hotel, but not cold or uncomfortable. Very nice staff who went out of their way to help me with maps, directions and restaurant recommendations.

My room was super clean and was much bigger than the tiny New York rooms I am used to. Great water pressure! I asked for a room away from the elevator and not facing the major street before I arrived and that made a big difference because it was very quiet at night.

They have a nice (and free) happy hour in the lobby every night and the location was optimal for shopping (and my meetings).

“Great”

Nine Zero Hotel - a Kimpton Hotel

5 of 5 stars
England
May 29, 2008

Perfect hotel for our stay.

- Booked through theis own website, got a good deal for $215, there is last minute upgrades available for very small amounts. They email these to you so you can book them on line.

- Great pub / bar right next door if you arrive late at night as we did, it does American bar food which tastes fantastic and it's 2 steps from the door. They still do food at 11pm.

- Perfect location to stay in Boston. You're basically in the middle of town close to everything and you can walk everywhere.

- Rooms are fab. Bed was very very comfy with a massive walk in shower.

- Careful if you arrive late at night, the valet parking is extra and they didn't tell us. It's only an extra $10 but it was a little annoying. Also it takes 20 minutes for them to actually go and get the car as the parking is not on site. Just leave enough time to get it. Airport is exceptionally close, about a 10-12 minute drive.

“Good and satisfying stay”

Nine Zero Hotel - a Kimpton Hotel

5 of 5 stars
Washington DC
May 27, 2008

We stayed at the Nine Zero Hotel to attend a commencement ceremony in Boston. The hotel is a few steps away from the subway (Park St station, Red and Green line), and close to Boston Commons. Area is also safe (we came back late at around 10-11pm every night).

About the hotel : we reserved our room through the hotel website, which gave a much cheaper rate than if you called the hotel directly. On the website, it asked whether you want 'higher floor, or lower', and whether you want 'feather pillows or foam'. We asked for a room on the higher floor, and feather pillows, and both requests were accommodated when we arrived. We were given a room on the 18th floor, with a beautiful view of the State House. Pillows and bed are very comfortable. Sheets are very clean. Hotel has a chic feel, smells nice as soon as you walk in. The interior decor of the room and the hotel can be interpreted as either stylish or tacky, but these are not major issues for me as I much prefer hotel to be clean, which the Nine Zero is. We also used the hotel gym, and although it is rather on the small side, it is functional, clean, doesn't smell, and it has good equipment. One thing we really liked was the in-room safe which is designed to accommodate laptop computers. We put our two laptop computers in it everytime we went out.

Some issues : 1) housekeeping didn't replenish the body soap when they cleaned our room. We wondered whether they forgot about it. No big deal. When we came back from walking around Boston that night, we just stopped at the front desk to ask for soap, and they readily accommodated us, and even asked whether they should call housekeeping to replenish us with more. Very professional and accommodating.

2) Second issue : On the brochure in the room itself, it stated that there's 'complimentary coffee' somewhere in the hotel (I forgot where, lobby perhaps), but when I called front desk to inquire about it, they said they don't have complimentary coffee, but coffee could be bought at the hotel restaurant. Hmmm. If you don't have it, then don't say it on the brochure ! Probably they changed the policy, which is fine, but the info given to customers in the brochures should be updated as well. Oh, by the way, room doesn't come with coffee maker or coffee, but they do have margarita mix !

All in all, it was a very good and very satisfying stay. Staff is professional and friendly. Nine Zero tends to be on the expensive side (we paid around $375 per night for our room), but the hotel is nice, clean, with comfortable bed and pillows, clean towels, crisp sheets, very close to subway. There's Dunkin Donuts and Finagle Bagel a block away for your morning coffee and breakfast.

We would definitely stay here again.
